Bespoke Paint Development Technician - MSO

Purpose of Role

We are currently looking for a Bespoke paint development technician to grow the current team to support increased demand for bespoke paint orders. This will involve working with our sales team in development of bespoke paint colours and liveries for customers. Then working with the paint teams across departments in ensuring these orders are completed correctly and meet quality expectation. We also work with design and marketing teams in development of series bespoke line delivered bespoke options and show car themes.

Principal Accountabilities

  • Work with our sales team to develop Bespoke paint colours and complete testing.
  • Livery and bespoke paint effect developments.
  • Support show car themes development and delivery.
  • Creating vectors and graphics to support themes we develop
  • Support paint and consumables account management.
  • Support painting of Solus and MTC paint projects.
  • Support H&S activities managed by paint technical team
  • Maintain and endorse McLaren values and culture with a mature attitude (housekeeping, appearance etc)
  • Work closely with our suppliers to create paint kits and processes instructions for our out sourced work.
  • Maintain a safe working environment for yourself and other team members.
  • Ensure safe working practices at all times and the correct use PPE.
  • Be multi-skilled able to cover absences within the team and assist other members should the need arise, working overtime as required.
  • Maintain and endorse McLaren values and culture with a mature attitude (housekeeping, appearance etc)

Knowledge, Skills and Experience

  • Previous experience in paint mixing, matching and formulation data maintenance essential.
  • A good understanding of colour theory and testing
  • Previous experience with McLarens or other premium brands would be an advantage
  • Good problem solving abilities
  • The successful applicant would ideally be skilled in panel preparation, filler work, spray painting and polishing.
  • Understanding of panel surface quality requirements that could affect final paint finish.
  • Experience with vectors and graphics
  • PC literate.
