Electronics Customer Support Engineer/Production

EM Motorsport is a leading electronic design and manufacture company that supplies equipment and systems to high end Motorsport series and race circuits. This appointment is a split role within the company. Your time will be split between Electronics Customer Support and Electronics Production. If you are a flexible, conscientious person with Electronics experience that we would like to hear from you.

Roles (Electronics Customer Support Engineer)

  • Providing after sales support to our customers on site and remotely. This could be in the UK, Europe or occasionally further afield.
  • Assist in the pre and post visit equipment maintenance and software configuration.
  • Record the allocation of units.
  • Help customers to organise spare unit allocation.
  • Preparing reports for sharing with colleagues’ including issues and achievements.
  • Faults tracking and conclusion
  • Provide feedback for in-house development tests.

Responsibilities (Electronics Customer Support Engineer)

  • Ensure that our customers have a single point of contact for after sales support.
  • Ensure that customers are keeping all equipment operational and correctly configured
  • Raising any and all faults/issues and requesting return for all faulty equipment for investigation
  • Maintaining a tidy working area at all times both in the office and onsite
  • Representing EM Motorsport in a professional manner at all times
  • Being well organised when travelling and working away.

Skills and requirements (Electronics Customer Support Engineer)

  • Good communication skills (e.g. concise, clear, timely and appropriate media used).
  • Knowledge on electronic technologies (HW and SW)
  • Good understanding of Ethernet networks and fibre optic converters
  • Ability to read a mechanical drawing.
  • Ability to read and write detailed and concise technical reports.
  • Experience with the use of tools associated with wiring.
  • Procedurally driven when performing duties (e.g. use of existing procedures and proposal for new)
  • Proactive as opposed to reactive by nature. IE someone that will anticipate a problem before it happens.
  • Good computer literacy (i.e. familiarity with using MS Windows/Office packages and network resources)
  • Approachable and amenable (i.e. welcoming to communications from customers and colleagues)

Roles (production)

  • Building and assembling the products that we manufacture in house
  • Small mechanical activities such as drilling and cutting out shapes on aluminium or steel sheeting
  • Wiring devices by either following writing diagrams or a demonstration from another member of the team
  • Assembling connectors with crimping pins or soldering pins
  • Use of heat gun to product cables and looms
  • Testing the final product

Responsibilities (production)

  • Supporting the Production team to build the products we manufacture in house
  • Supporting the Production team to Test our products before they are despatched
  • Supporting the Production team to service our equipment annually

Skills and requirements (production)

  • You should have a Basic working knowledge of multimeter’s (preferably Oscilloscope)
  • Basic knowledge of electronics
  • You will be IT literate in Windows, Word, Excel and Outlook
  • You must have the ability to work under pressure in order to meet the deadlines requested by our customers.
  • You must be organised, tidy and conscientious with the ability to work on your own as well as under supervision.
