The global racing enterprise boasts over 250 race wins, four INDYCAR Series championships, five INDY NXT titles, one Indy Pro 2000 and one USF2000 championship, and has captured victory five times at the famed Indianapolis 500-Mile Race. The team is now looking to expand into the pinnacle of motorsport through our Andretti Cadillac Team.
Job description:
We have an opportunity for a Senior Tyre Performance Engineer to join the Andretti Cadillac Team at the new Silverstone Facility. This role is responsible for supporting the race team in tyre performance optimization at each event, both at the track and through management of factory support. This includes guiding the development of bespoke tools for analyzing tyre performance, as well as ensuring continuous improvement of operational processes at the factory and at the track. This role also is responsible for coordinating tyre testing activities and tyre model correlation, and for providing engineering support for car development, looking at future years for expected tyre performance and behavior. Principal Accountabilities:
- Working closely with the Head of Race Strategy & Tyre Performance to define the department strategic direction and plan projects around available resources.
- Supporting the race team in tyre performance optimization and tyre management during the event (either trackside or from the factory).
- Ensuring mandatory tyre reporting is completed on time and to a high standard
- Guiding development of tyre performance tools, methods, and infrastructure
- Continuously improving operational processes at the track and the factory
- Developing and maintaining department administration and reporting procedures
- Providing support and mentoring to junior members of the team
- Coordinating tyre testing activities and tyre model correlation
- Looking at future years for expected tyre performance and behavior
Requirements
- High level motorsports experience in tyre performance across multiple sets of tyre regulations. Experience with Pirelli tyres is highly valued but not required.
- Strong understanding of physics and math relating to high performance vehicles.
- Ability to drive projects and provide leadership and mentoring to junior members of the team.
- Ability to work under pressure and to tight deadlines with minimal errors.
- Excellent presentation skills, with the ability to convey complex information clearly and concisely to diverse audiences.
- Strong critical thinking and creative problem-solving skills.
- Experience in performing data analysis, including data cleaning, transformation, and visualization, using Python, R, or equivalent.
- Honesty, transparency, and integrity in all aspects of work.
