Chief Mechanic - Motorsport

Based in Vienna-Austria, we are part of renown Stohl Group GmbH which is successfully operating worldwide, primarily in motorsports, since over 20 years. STARD is the group´s advanced R&D specialist department and processes a wide spectrum of cutting-edge research, development, assembly, test & race activity in-house, including:
- High performance FIA certified EV powertrain & battery systems
- High performance E-Motor, Inverter and transmission systems
- Internal combustion engine ECU software development & calibraiton
- Internal combustion powertrain system development & integration
- Hybrid powertrain system development
- Complete E/E systems for ground, aerial, and marine vehicles
- ECU/VCU software and calibration incl. advanced control systems such as 4WD torque vectoring strategies
- Entire vehicles for motorsport and future high performance automotive applications
- HV subcomponents and systems
- Invention and implementation of sustainable, smart technologies and solutions
- Racing activity (in collaboration with sister business unit “Stohl Racing”).

Chief Mechanic – Motorsport
Selection of associated activities include:
- Main responsible mechanic for a given vehicle/project/department, supervising a team of up to 4 more mechanics
- Initial builds of newly developed motorsport prototype cars
- Supervise small series production car build up processes (e.g. customer motorsport)
- On site race event vehicle preparation, service and post process responsibility
- Receive instructions from and report to Workshop Management
- Coordinate spare parts, equipment and tools with logistics & purchase departments
- Processing car setup according to setup sheets
- Ensure safe operation and optimized performance of race vehicles
- Process final pre-event and pre-delivery checks
- Generate, maintain, and apply work process documentation
- Master workman certification or equivalent education/experience, Level 3 HV training beneficial
- Extensive relevant multi-year “car chief” experience in motorsport e.g.: Rally, Touring Car, Rallycross, GT, Cross Country
- High level entire vehicle systems knowledge and servicing skills (electrics, engines, drivetrain, suspension,…)
- Welding skills (TIG, MIG,…) beneficial
- High accuracy, responsibility and organised working approach with excellent communication and teamwork skills
- Basic MS Office knowledge (especially: word, excel)
- Target oriented approach, ability to work independently, and excellent problem-solving skills
- Highly flexible in working hours if required (weekends, holidays, late hours), as typical in motorsport
- Able to work and to take critical decisions also under pressure (racing activity)
- Above average commitment and team work ability, as typical in motorsport
- Readiness to work in rough environment (e.g. rally, rallycross, offroad-racing projects)
- Willingness to take responsibility
- Willingness to travel worldwide
- Trailer, truck, truck + trailer driving licenses beneficial (B-E, C, C-E)
- Good English skills (verbal & read/write) required
- Covid 19 vaccination status: irrelevant
- Long-term full time permanent employment based in Austria, Vienna
- Initial temporary “Fly-in” option (Company owned modern Apartments available at head office location) possible
- Role and business appropriate competitive salary
