About the Role:

Our Core Technology Team are looking for an Infrastructure Engineer who has the passion and determination to work across a broad cross-section of disciplines and technologies. Working collaboratively with others, you will help to provide and support the IT platforms and services that empower the Team as it works to succeed both on and off the track.

You will thrive on working in a fast paced and ever-changing digital environment and in a role where you get to create innovative solutions across a vast portfolio of technologies.

Key Accountabilities of this role include:

  • Implementation, support, and maintenance of a broad range of infrastructure including storage platforms, VMWare, physical servers, and associated interconnectivity, owning the current and future state to provide secure, high performing, scalable services to the business.

  • Installation and configuration of physical IT hardware and maintenance of Datacentres and the associated infrastructure.

  • Support and troubleshooting of Windows and Linux server workloads, virtual machines, clusters, and services.

  • Infrastructure security, system protection and continuity (backup/restore/DR).

  • Requirements gathering and implementation of new infrastructure projects.

  • Providing support and up-skilling to others in IT and the wider organisation as an escalation point.

To be successful you will have:

Technical Skills and Experience

Essential:

  • In-depth knowledge and experience of implementing and supporting enterprise scale VMware clusters and associated underlying infrastructure and storage platforms, including HCI infrastructure. To include experience taking a product from conception to completion into our production infrastructure.

  • Experience with Microsoft and Linux OS technologies, platforms, and services including AD/authentication/DNS/DHCP.

  • Experience with backup / restore, data protection and disaster recovery platforms and capabilities.

  • Experience of Cloud-based alternatives and offerings to compliment on-premise infrastructures.

Desirable:

  • Ideally, backed up by vendor certifications (e.g. VMware, Microsoft, Linux).

  • Ideally, experience managing and operating via command line utilities and working to improve automation and enlist modern practises (e.g. managing VMWare with PowerCLI, DevOps, CI/CD, Ansible, Kubernetes etc.).

The successful candidate will bring a wide range of experience and skills and be able to combine them with a high attention to detail, enthusiasm, and curiosity.

You will be:

  • Organised and initiative-taking, able to communicate clearly, and willing to take ownership and accountability for their work in current and future platforms and processes.

  • Keen to use intuition to perform deeper analysis of problems outside of initial skills and knowledge.

  • Experience of working in a fast-paced environment with changing priorities.

  • Confident and with proven ability to execute operations and changes within an ITIL environment.

  • Able to deliver work to a high level of quality and attention to detail.
