Purpose of role

To help define and drive delivery of how McLaren Racing engages with new and existing partners, our people and fans in a way that is aligned to and adds value to McLaren Racing’s sustainability priorities.

To motivate and inspire the Commercial and Communications teams to collaboratively support delivery of our sustainability programme and bring our partners, people and fans along the journey.

To manage day-to-day tasks delivered by the Associate, Sustainability in support of this role.


Key accountabilities

  • Conducts research that informs engagement activities with partner prospects that help deliver McLaren’s sustainability objectives.
  • Supports delivery of existing partner sustainability activations, hospitality experiences and events and external messaging of these initiatives.
  • Delivery of research and implementation of fan sustainability education and behaviour change programmes.
  • Oversees the Sustainability Team’s holistic communications strategy and acts as the main point of contact for the McLaren Racing communications, social and digital teams for initial requests/ ideation and delivery of key communications activations.

Job requirements

Desired experience, skills & behaviours

  • Experience of delivering commercial and charitable partner and fan/public sustainability activations with tangible sustainability outcomes.
  • Experience of delivering and gaining recognition for innovative, engaging and impactful sustainability education and behaviour change programmes and events (ideally using ISO20121).
  • Experienced in analysing and interpreting data / information to draw appropriate conclusions and make practical recommendations that improve sustainability performance.
  • Able to demonstrate a good understanding of sustainability issues, particularly in relation to the McLaren Racing four pillars of net zero, circular economy, diversity, equality & inclusion and health & well-being and frame sustainable solutions as opportunities.
  • Effective communicator, able to inspire, influence and motivate stakeholders to take greater levels of accountability and adopt more sustainable practices, and act as a “translator” of technical sustainability information to a lay person in an engaging way.
  • Strong relationship building skills, working collaboratively across partners, teams and networks.
  • Highly organised, able to deliver multiple concurrent projects/ initiatives.
  • Collaborative and cooperative team player, equally willing and able to work on own projects whilst supporting other team members as needed.

McLaren Racing is based at the iconic McLaren Technology Centre (MTC) near Woking. Our state of the art, sustainable campus offers many facilities including a gym, restaurant and indoor and outdoor break-out areas, as well as direct access to park and common land. The MTC is connected to Woking mainline station via fully-electric shuttle buses from which London Waterloo is a 30 minute train ride.
