Tax Manager - FTC

What to Expect

We are recruiting for a Tax Manager to join our fantastic Group Finance team in Woking. This is a key finance role, the position is highly visible working directly with the Group Head of Tax, logistics department and the Finance team to deliver on the tax compliance for the Automotive operation. You will have a complete understanding of the automotive tax environment, ownership of the process and the compliance deliverables. You will need the ability to be creative and to find solutions, working with a continuous improvement mindset to not only ensure planning deliverables are met but also influence business decisions.

Please note this is a 9 month fixed term contract.

What You'll Do

  • Management of cars returned to UK for processing and servicing [IPR]. Reconciliation with service teams and quarterly declaration to HMRC
  • Management of VAT/GST compliance in multiple jurisdictions, including filing of returns, advising on VAT queries from Finance/operational teams and VAT tax planning
  • Accounting reconciliations of indirect tax debtors and monthly provisioning
  • Working with operations and finance teams to prepare detailed R&D report and claim for HoT sign off.
  • Provision of advice on tax residency, withholding tax and withholding tax treaty residence certificates. Dealing with external MAL customers/suppliers that have withheld tax.
  • Ownership of quarterly process for MAL Management Charges calculation in line with legislation and policy.
  • Communication with regions to ensure compliance and adjusting the posting for overseas companies to leave the correct profit margins and compliance with transfer pricing policy.
  • Assisting Hot with the global tax reporting for tax statements and financial statements. Includes compliance with annual UK audit process, preparing MAL/MAEL corporate tax return for HoT review and the International Country by Country reporting for OECD.
  • Liaising with Automotive operational teams and supervise Tax Analyst to ensure that Customs documents and processes are correct and in line with internal business structures.
  • Working with freight agents to ensure that all reliefs have been claimed on imports to minimise cash flow, manage the payment of customs duties, and ensure that goods are released daily to production line.
  • Audit and monitor on-going compliance with the AEO certification.
  • Project manage tax work outsourced to external advisors including ensuring appropriate advice is obtained efficiently.
  • Supporting the Head of Tax and Risk in UK corporation tax communications with HMRC including preparation of correspondence to resolve queries, and active participation in meetings. Maintaining a good relationship with the various tax authorities.

What You'll Bring

  • A solid indirect tax background gained in practice and/or industry.
  • ACA, ACCA or CTA qualified
  • Strong accounting knowledge
  • Experience of direct tax would be an advantage.
  • Robust enthusiastic self-starter.
  • Team player with ability to communicate complex tax matters to a non-tax audience.
  • Analytical and organisational
  • Practical and commercial approach to problem solving.
  • Desire and ability to lean.
