Finance Manager

What to Expect

The Finance Manager role is responsible for finance business partnering departments within the Commercial area. The purpose of the role is to drive these departments to increase profitability and optimise cash flow. You and your line report will be responsible for managing and reporting performance against budget & forecast for all aspects of your department’s finances, as well as looking at how we continue to improve our processes and financial controls.

What You'll Do

  • Manage all aspects of the assigned commercial departments financial statements and performance.
  • Challenge stakeholders to drive accountability, as well as providing them with the tools necessary to track progress against their financial targets and most importantly, allow them to operate within the agreed budgets.
  • Drive improvement in the tracking and reporting of Commercial financial performance, including revenue and contribution analysis.
  • Ensure that the financial impact of decision making is understood, carefully considered, and communicated to relevant stakeholders.
  • Build strong working relationships and alignment with the wider finance function.
  • Manage the Month-end processes and timetable for you and your line report. This includes reviewing monthly P&L variance analysis, balance sheet postings and representing your departments in Finance reviews.
  • Complete presentation packs on the previous month and year to date performance, plus the full year reforecast and present this to the finance leadership.
  • Manage the monthly rolling forecast process and quarterly planning cycles to the timetable set. Enhance the functional engagement into the forecast, budget and business planning cycles and ensure the targets are bought into by the respective budget owners.
  • Build an understanding of the financial performance and the commercial background and be able to articulate this to both finance and non-finance colleagues.
  • Work to create a working environment that facilitates a high-performance culture.
  • Manage cash inflows and outflows for your areas of responsibility and act as a consultant to the ‘Sales to cash’ process. Work to ensure a high-quality revenue base that has a robust plan for conversion to cash.

What You'll Bring

  • A Qualified Accountant (ACCA, CIMA, ACA or equivalent) with a minimum of 3 years’ PQE.
  • Experience in commercial business partnering roles.
  • Advanced Excel skills required to interrogate and manage large volumes of complex data.
  • Experience of accounting systems, preference for SAP knowledge.
  • Confident with offering constructive challenges to senior stakeholders.
  • Ability to not only understand and be comfortable with the detail but also to summarise key aspects for management consumption.
  • Demonstrate a continuous improvement approach to work by identifying areas for process improvements and implementing robust solutions.
  • Automotive industry experience would be advantageous but not essential.
