Development Lead Technician

What to Expect

An opportunity exists within the Development group for an experienced Lead Vehicle Development Technician.

Primary function is to assemble, maintain, prepare and support the operation of multi-project test and development vehicles and rigs at both MTC Woking and at test locations.

Additional responsibilities include: Deputising for Team Leaders when they are not present, ensuring the safe and efficient operation of the vehicle workshop, maintaining stock levels of workshop consumables, tooling and vehicle parts and the maintenance of support equipment for workshop and off-site test activities.

What You'll Do

  • Take a leading role to build, maintain, prepare, update and support the operation of concept/mule/prototype and production level vehicles and simulation rigs, primarily during their test and development activities.
  • Ensure the continued safe and efficient operation of the vehicle workshop in the absence of the Team Leader delivering on tasks as required by the agreed working planner and priorities.
  • Maintenance of the workshop and equipment to the standards set by McLaren and in accordance to company policy.
  • Be the point of contact for providing technical information and guidance to the technician team.
  • Maintain workshop consumable stock, including all fluid requirements, to an operational level and within agreed annual OPEX budgets.
  • Maintain workshop tooling & equipment to an operational level and within agreed annual OPEX budget.
  • Monitor, review and maintain stock of vehicle service parts.
  • Ensure all equipment kits, including HV safety, are stocked, inventoried, up to date and organised ready for deployment in testing environments.

What We'll Do for You

  • Extensive experience in motorsport/prototype/low volume/high performance complete vehicle builds, covering the manufacture, assembly and operating of such vehicles.
  • Basic welding, machining and fabrication skills are desirable.
  • Understanding of current automotive electrical systems and diagnostic tools would be advantageous.
  • Excellent attention to detail.
  • Clean Driving Licence & Passport.
  • IT literate in various packages e.g. Microsoft Office.
