Senior Aero Design Engineer

Role Overview:

This role will focus on the design of components for use throughout the Aerodynamics department, to include the wind tunnel model, full size car & R&D parts.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide the design and development direction on all aspects of the company’s Wind Tunnel models.
  • Ensure that standard design practices are adhered to for all drawings issued within the aerodynamics department.
  • Identify ways to improve the design practices, instigate improvements and monitor progress.
  • Report regularly to the Lead Aerodynamics Design Engineers on the progress of all projects.
  • To maintain good working knowledge of essential CAD packages and related software, as well as companywide software.
  • Assist in identifying ways to improve the department performance.
  • Maintain positive relationships with all other factory departments.
  • To follow, implement, and ensure adherence to the company’s health & safety policy.
  • Maintain high standards of staff and department presentation, as appropriate for a showcase facility visited by potential sponsors and other VIPs.
  • Take ownership of projects, including design, test planning, and final release stages.
  • Mentor less experienced designers and graduate designers.
  • Assist in the recruitment of new staff.

Core Skills and Experience:

  • A degree in an engineering discipline/ HND with an engineering apprenticeship.
  • Extensive experience of design in motorsport, or be able to demonstrate transferrable engineering experience.
  • Strong CAD capability with extensive use of 3D packages. Preferably experience with UG NX.
  • Good working knowledge of standard IT packages (Microsoft etc.)
  • Basic project management skills.
  • Ability to take initiative and respond quickly and effectively to problems.
  • Flexible approach to working hours, particularly under deadlines.
  • Strong attention to detail.
  • Competent under pressure.
  • Good interpersonal skills.
  • Appreciation of confidentiality.
  • Able to work closely with others.
  • Interested in innovation, winning design solutions.
