The Opportunity:

A fabulous opportunity for a qualified Electrician or Technician to join the small yet growing, dedicated and talented team at Lola as we embark on the next phase of the adventure. The successful candidate will have experience in motorsport electronics and will be confident working with wiring diagrams, looms, and harnesses. Working with the Electrical Systems Engineer and other members of the Technical Team to deliver the vehicle electrical requirements in line with the project technical, timing and budget targets set.

Role Responsibilities:

  • Repair and modification of automotive looms
  • Design and build of adaptor harnesses
  • Offcar communication wiring and infrastructure
  • Termination of sensors and actuators
  • Capable of reading wiring diagrams and pinout
  • Capable of building looms from pinouts
  • Documentation of looms build, and sensors configured
  • Fault finding of wiring looms
  • Demonstrate soldering skills as required
  • Calibrate sensors and actuators and perform tests on specific test benches
  • Manages and carries out electrical component and system testing as required.
  • Works across more than one project as required.
  • Works with external suppliers to ensure technical, quality and budget requirements for components are met.

Technical Skills required:

  • Experience in motorsport electronics
  • Familiar with high density motorsport and military connectors (Souriau, Deutsch, MIL-Spec, Raychem)• Knowledge of Motorsport electrical standards (System 25, IPC 620) and experience with high voltage of electric vehicles desirable but not essential
  • Understanding of low and high voltage automotive electronics as applied in a racing environment.
  • Knowledge of MS Office (Excel, Access, Outlook).
  • Working knowledge of LV and HV wiring as applied in a racing environment.
  • Preferred wiring harness design using 3D CAD design software.
  • Understanding of sensor and actuator basics and their selection in a racing environment.
  • Ability to transfer sensor and actuator setups between lab, test bench and race car.
  • Preferred understanding of Li Ion battery technology.
  • Preferred understanding of PMSM technology
  • Fault identification and rectification in LV and HV systems
  • Data analysis using one of the racing world standard packages (Atlas, Darab, Wintax)
  • Electrical support of Systems Engineer for HiL and Dil operation.
  • Ability to work at test benches and at track testing
  • Proficient PC skills

Qualifications & Experience required:

  • A vocational qualification as an electrician or comparable qualification in the field of electronics
  • Ideally more than 3 years’ experience in motorsport electronics
  • An interest in and understanding of engineering/motorsport.

The Successful Candidate might be:

  • An existing electrician in a motorsport/ automotive company
  • An electrical enthusiast who has acquired the appropriate experience, skills & knowledge.
  • An experienced electrical engineer with the relevant skills and knowledge looking for a change in role.
