In 2019 Joe and Guenther decided to launch an AS9100 / ISO certified sister company called Composite Factory. Job Summary:

Trains and works under the supervision of Machining Supervisor on machine shop processes.

Job Role:

  • Cut different types of material by utilizing various manual machines (band saw, planer, table saw, skill saw, jointer, etc.)
  • Basic knowledge of hand tools and mechanical devices
  • Assist with bond/glue-up of materials using multiple FWC SOPs
  • Operate Forklift
  • Responsible for adhering to company policies and procedures
  • Clean/organize stock materials (tools, tooling, etc.)
  • Feed inventory levels to Administrator
  • Maintain cleanliness of machines (e.g. maintain coolant levels, how to use a refractometer), equipment, and work environment/shop (e.g. sweeping, mopping, dusting, etc.)
  • Must adhere to health and safety procedures, and all workplace policies
  • Other duties as assigned

Machining Training Platform:

  • Machine Shop Apprentice Level 1 is entry level
  • Once accountabilities and skills have been achieved and mastered for two (2) years, promote to Machine Shop Apprentice Level 2
  • Machine Shop Apprentice Level 1 milestones
  • Completed FWC’s Forklift Certification
  • Utilizes manual machines to cut various types of material
  • Consistently and efficiently performs the bond/glue up process of materials
  • Clean/organize stock materials
  • Machine and workshop cleanliness
  • Need to have basic understanding of the different CNC machines, functions, etc.
  • Basic skills to use precision measuring devices, micrometers, calipers, height stands

What You Will Bring to the Team:

  • High School/GED diploma or vocational school equivalent required
  • 1-2 years of machining experience a plus
  • Have excellent math and mechanical skills/aptitude
  • The ability and desire to do precision work
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills
  • Ability to learn to read and interpret mechanical documents and drawings
  • Good computer skills (MS Office Suite)
  • Certified Forklift Operator experience a plus
  • Exemplary attendance
  • A keen eye for detail and results-driven approach
  • Must be able to follow written instructions from Work Instruction Sheets
  • Needs to have a strong appreciation of the importance of completing tasks on time
  • Must be adaptable to a changing work environment and completing demands
  • Must be a US Citizen or Permanent Resident

Work Environment & Physical Requirements:

  • Combination of indoor and outdoor activities with varying conditions
  • Requires walking, standing, sitting, climbing, balancing, bending, reaching, handling, stooping, kneeling, and crouching
  • Ability to lift/carry/push/pull up to 50 pounds
  • May involve operating material handling equipment in a safe manner
  • Work may include exposure to variable noise levels, fumes, airborne particles, hazardous chemicals, etc., requiring personal protective equipment
  • Some positions may require working with small parts/components, necessitating excellent hand-eye coordination and manual dexterity
  • Specific vision abilities required, including close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus
