What to Expect
- This role involves leading the definition, development and validation of Vehicle Dynamics programs in McLaren vehicles.
- The role involves the simulation, modelling, planning, testing, tuning and validation of vehicle Dynamics attribute to deliver the high-level vehicle characteristics targets.
- The Senior Engineer is responsible for defining and managing the budget and plan as well as having technical responsibility for delivering the vehicle attributes.
- Special interest on Tyre component definition, development and delivery is required for this role.
What You'll Do
- Defining Tyre component targets in line with Marketing and Vehicle Technology roadmaps
- Defining and managing Attribute plan with vehicle development to ensure all attributes achieve sign off at the appropriate point in the program.
- Collaborate with the Vehicle Dynamics CAE team to define component level and translate onto vehicle level KPI’s.
- Model and simulate “virtual” vehicle to ensure targets and correctly defined and hardware and software specification can deliver them.
- Define and carry out vehicle testing plan to tune/calibrate dynamic systems on the vehicle.
- Define and lead all tuning activities related to the above-mentioned systems.
- Understand and resolve issues that arise during development process.
- Tracking and reporting on vehicle project status.
- Follow testing activities on track for Dynamics systems.
- Coordinate and manage integration in multi-department activities that affect the Dynamics attribute.
- Support travelling for high level meetings, program updates and testing as required.
- Data logging, Calibration, Objective maneuvers and subjective vehicle evaluation are required.
What You'll Bring
Proven record of defining, developing, and delivering vehicle dynamics attribute for other OEM. Minimum 5 years of appropriate automotive product development experience
Excellent knowledge of vehicle dynamics
Excellent knowledge of Tyre technologies and theory. Proven record of previously delivered a tyre program within the industry.
Excellent knowledge on suspension, steering and active systems (such as ABS, TCS, ESP, E-Diff)
Proven driving skills for high performance vehicle
Competent user of Matlab, Simulink and experience with ADAMS car
Proven records of managing automotive or motorsport testing plans.
Good knowledge of validation, verification and testing process.
Good knowledge of data logging and calibration systems.
Good knowledge of objective maneuvers driving and subjective vehicle evaluation.
Model based controls application/development would be positively considered.
