Software Validation Electrical Technician

What to Expect

The key elements of the role are to ensure that the development vehicle activities are supported from an engineering perspective, through harness manufacture, data acquisition, fault diagnoses and platform software updates to allow a smooth transition into a successful running platform. This will involve the assembly and testing of prototype components, along with identification and reporting of electrical/electronic faults and working with engineers to resolve problems.

What You'll Do

Reporting to the Software Testing Principal Engineer, you will be responsible to support the rapid prototyping and test benches development and maintenance to support SW validation\development on a variety of systems and platforms across programmes.

Main accountabilities include:

  • To manufacture and repair Automotive and System 25 type Harnesses.
  • Rapid prototyping activities to support the validation software team development
  • Test Benches and rig manufacture
  • To work with Engineers and Technicians with the integration of systems onto vehicles, commissioning and rectifying electrical faults where necessary.
  • To assist with vehicle activities using tools such as CANape, Monaco, CANalyzer.
  • To provide training and support to other team members.
  • Travel might be required.

What You'll Bring

  • Practical knowledge of vehicle wiring with the ability to manufacture and repair automotive and other harness types.
  • Knowledge and the ability to apply electrical physical aspects.
  • Experience of Electric or Hybrid vehicles
  • Knowledge of CAN bus architecture.
  • Knowledge of CAN based tools used in fault diagnoses, platform software updates and data logging.
  • Knowledge of and understanding of control systems.
  • Familiar with Microsoft Office especially Excel and maintenance of VB macros.
  • CATIA product development platform or similar.
