Senior Project Engineer - Series

What to Expect

    What You'll Do
    • Leading the opening and closure of engineering concerns from series projects including current production, warranty and legacy vehicles
    • Supporting development of new technologies with suppliers for implementation of Model Year and legacy projects
    • BOM definition and management including leading cost reduction initiatives to deliver Function Group BOM glide path targets for TVM
    • Leadership, planning, monitoring and control of function group activities to guarantee project delivery in line with MDP (McLaren Development Process)
    • Establishing and controlling system and component, design, release, development and validation plans in association with functional experts and in line with technical risk management processes.
    • Establishing and controlling supply chain in association with function group buyers to ensure delivery of components and systems on schedule for all phases of prototype, pilot, pre-production and production build.
    • Ensuring manufacturability and compliance with quality standards of all components and systems within the defined BOM through interface with manufacturing site and suppliers.
    • Reviewing and managing the opening and closure of engineering concerns.
    • Responding to requests for information or specification change with assessment of risk and cost.
    • Controlling DFM and FMEA as required.
    • Preparation and presentation of material to support external and internal project status reviews.

    What You'll Bring

    • Beneficial to have experience of direct OEM Chassis design experience in Automotive industry
    • Experience of automotive design and development, understanding of vehicle attributes
    • Good mechanical design principles, capable to deliver design solutions
    • Accurate organisation and project management skills
    • Experience in component release management and problem solving
    • Experience of high and niche vehicle (low volume) programmes
    • An ability to deliver under pressure with an appetite for measured success.
    • Use of CAD (Catia V5) advantageous
    • Mechanical or Automotive Engineering Degree
