What to Expect
- Leading the opening and closure of engineering concerns from series projects including current production, warranty and legacy vehicles
- Supporting development of new technologies with suppliers for implementation of Model Year and legacy projects
- BOM definition and management including leading cost reduction initiatives to deliver Function Group BOM glide path targets for TVM
- Leadership, planning, monitoring and control of function group activities to guarantee project delivery in line with MDP (McLaren Development Process)
- Establishing and controlling system and component, design, release, development and validation plans in association with functional experts and in line with technical risk management processes.
- Establishing and controlling supply chain in association with function group buyers to ensure delivery of components and systems on schedule for all phases of prototype, pilot, pre-production and production build.
- Ensuring manufacturability and compliance with quality standards of all components and systems within the defined BOM through interface with manufacturing site and suppliers.
- Reviewing and managing the opening and closure of engineering concerns.
- Responding to requests for information or specification change with assessment of risk and cost.
- Controlling DFM and FMEA as required.
- Preparation and presentation of material to support external and internal project status reviews.
What You'll Bring
- Beneficial to have experience of direct OEM Chassis design experience in Automotive industry
- Experience of automotive design and development, understanding of vehicle attributes
- Good mechanical design principles, capable to deliver design solutions
- Accurate organisation and project management skills
- Experience in component release management and problem solving
- Experience of high and niche vehicle (low volume) programmes
- An ability to deliver under pressure with an appetite for measured success.
- Use of CAD (Catia V5) advantageous
- Mechanical or Automotive Engineering Degree
