PLM Support Engineer

The Position:

PLM is a sub-section of Software Development which is part of our Digital Performance Technologies (DPT) department. The Product Lifecycle Management (PLM) team covers CAD/CAM/CAE/PLM and Manufacturing Systems.

This role will provide the support for these systems and to develop strong relationships with key internal groups including Design and Electronics and Manufacturing and Inspection, covering four main areas of work:

  • Effective triage of incidents

  • At elbow support / resolving helpdesk tickets for all areas

  • Providing or helping facilitate the development of targeted user training and mentoring

  • Day to day system administration

As a PLM Support Engineer, you will:

  • Support Vehicle Design, Aerodynamics and Manufacturing

  • Triage incidents and resolve for CAD/CAM/CAE/PLM and Manufacturing Systems shared with other PLM Support Engineers

  • At elbow support where required

  • Help evaluate and improve existing PLM systems

  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to identify improvement opportunities

  • Review and highlight repeat issues to help identify the root cause and implement a permanent solution

  • Work with vendors and their support teams where incidents cannot solely be resolved internally

  • Escalate major incidents to the Head of Software Development.

  • Develop and update technical documentation

  • Respond and resolve tickets within the agreed business SLA

  • Liaise and work with the rest of the PLM team to ensure joined up thinking and development

  • Require flexibility to work extended or cover out of hour’s upgrades or outages

  • Participate in a rota with other team members for out-of-hours support

Skills and experience required:

  • Experienced NX user

    • 3D Modelling experience is important

    • Beneficial (but not essential): Drafting, Surfacing, CAM

    • Ideally knowledge of NX2007+ Series

  • Experienced Teamcenter user

    • Beneficial: Basic Administration, Structure Manager, Workflows, knowledge of Teamcenter 12+

  • Experience in providing support to users/customers

  • Previous experience deploying software installations to client workstations

  • Quick and effective problem solving abilities

  • Ability to translate business needs into technical specifications

  • Ability to work with others, to help continually grow the entire DPT department

  • Excellent communication skills, written, interpersonal and verbal

  • A team player with the ability to remain calm under pressure

  • Fully competent in core IT skills and technical / business knowledge required by the role and / or current assignment.
