Summary:

We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Operations Planning and Scheduling Manager to lead and optimize our production planning and scheduling processes. The ideal candidate will have a proven track record in improving production efficiency, driving process improvements, and developing high-performing teams. The role requires strong leadership, analytical skills, and the ability to collaborate effectively across various departments.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead and develop the Operations Planning and Scheduling teams to ensure efficient coordination and scheduling of all production activities.
  • Balance demand from Operational Programmes with available internal capacity and report on Manufacturing progress against the plan.
  • Drive the development of the Operations Planning Team, supporting the transition to product-specific portfolio management within an adaptable production schedule.
  • Establish clear processes and responsibilities within the Operations Planning and Scheduling teams.
  • Collaborate with Heads of Operational Programmes, Technical Planning, and Manufacturing Managers to ensure visibility on demand vs. capacity, incorporating scenario planning for data-driven decision-making.
  • Actively develop ERP, MES, and Scheduling Tools, working with Enterprise Systems to define processes and enable data-driven decision-making.
  • Develop and utilize KPI reports to maintain a data-driven view of the production scheduling process.
  • Foster closer collaboration between operations planning, procurement, and stores to streamline the picking of new build and service kits.
  • Support team members' personal and professional development, creating a clear career path within Operations Planning.
  • Work closely with IT support functions to enhance software and hardware, continuously improving functionality and support for the business.
  • Assist the finance department with FIA Cost Cap analysis when required.
  • Chair and enhance Daily Production meetings with Operations Planning and Manufacturing teams.
  • Monitor daily loading and capacity bottlenecks across all production areas.
  • Collaborate with production managers and the quality manager to address production capacity constraints promptly.
  • Represent manufacturing areas in business systems improvement projects.
  • Report and provide solutions for capacity overload occurrences.
  • Ensure the Head of Manufacturing is informed of any issues affecting delivery.
  • Provide daily support and motivation to production control teams to ensure adherence to processes and deadlines.
  • Ensure compliance with Health & Safety obligations at all times.

Qualifications and Experience:

  • Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain Management, Engineering, or a related field.
  • Proven experience in operations planning and scheduling, preferably in a manufacturing environment.
  • Strong leadership and team development skills.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving abilities.
  • Proficiency in ERP, MES, and scheduling tools.
  • Effective communication and collaboration skills.
