Led by racing legend Michael Andretti, the team fields multiple entries in INDYCAR, INDY NXT, IMSA and Formula E. The global racing enterprise boasts over 250 race wins, four INDYCAR Series championships, five INDY NXT titles, one Indy Pro 2000 and one USF2000 championship, and has captured victory five times at the famed Indianapolis 500-Mile Race. The team is now looking to expand into the pinnacle of motorsport through our Andretti Cadillac Team. 

 

Job description:
We have an exciting opportunity for a Graduate Aero Mechanical Design Engineer to join the Andretti Cadillac Team at the new Silverstone Facility. In this role, you will work within a group of skilled design engineers in helping develop the team’s 60% wind tunnel model and testing facility, designing and developing mechanical and electromechanical systems for the model. Principal Accountabilities:

  • Support delivery of high quality designed mechanical parts for the wind tunnel model.  
  • Working on design projects in all aspects of the design of the mechanical systems used on the wind tunnel model, test facility and aero instrumentation.  
  • Reviewing designs and developing an understanding on how to improve the performance and reliability of engineering systems.  
  • Working to achieve the project scope set out by senior team members to complete mechanical design solutions  
  • Contribute new ideas in design methodology including process and procedures.  
  • Investigate and research new technologies and materials to be used in the development of mechanical systems. 

Requirements

  • A degree in a relevant discipline (Engineering/Design/Motorsport) or similar.  
  • Completed your degree within the past 12 months, or you are scheduled to complete it within the next 12 months. 
  • Some experience of mechanical design using 3D CAD software (preferably 3DExperience/CATIA).  
  • Some knowledge and understanding of complex mechanical engineering is advantageous.  
  • Ability to apply structural engineering techniques for part validation (FEA).  
  • Some knowledge of materials and manufacturing techniques including composite manufacture and advanced digital manufacture.  
  • An awareness of GD&T and its application.  
  • Demonstrate excellent interpersonal skills.  
  • Able to perform duties in a timely manner with minimal errors.  
  • Communicate effectively with colleagues.  
  • Clear and concise communication, verbally and with the use of email.  
  • Strong levels of IT skills including MS Office, Word, Excel and PowerPoint.  
  • Positively contribute to an open and inclusive culture.
