Vehicle Dynamics Senior Engineer

What to Expect

This role involves the definition, development and validation of Vehicle Dynamics attribute in McLaren supercars.

The role involves the simulation, modelling, testing, tuning and validation of suspension, steering and vehicle performance attributes to deliver the high-level vehicle characteristics targets.

The Senior Engineer is responsible for defining and managing the budget and plan as well as having technical responsibility for delivering the vehicle attributes.

What You'll Do

Defining attribute targets based on Marketing and vehicle roadmaps.

Defining and managing Attribute plan with vehicle development to ensure all attributes achieve sign off at the appropriate point in the program.

Define and manage budget to deliver the attribute.

Define and manage roadmaps for specific Dynamics systems.

Model and simulate “virtual” vehicle to ensure targets are correctly defined and hardware and software specification can deliver them.

Define and carry out vehicle testing plan to tune/calibrate dynamic systems on the vehicle.

Understand and resolve issues that arise during development process.

Model and validate vehicle performance figures.

Tracking and reporting of vehicle project status.

Follow testing activities on track for Dynamics systems.

Coordinate and manage integration in multi-department activities that affect the Dynamics attribute.

What You'll Bring

Excellent knowledge of vehicle dynamics.

Excellent knowledge of chassis hardware systems (i.e. steering, suspension, tyres etc.).

Good driving skills of high performance vehicles.

Competent user of data acquisition systems, Matlab, Simulink and ADAMS car.

Good skills in managing testing plan.

Good knowledge of control systems design and tuning.

Good knowledge of validation, verification and testing process.

Good knowledge of data logging and calibration systems.

Good knowledge of objective maneuvers driving and subjective vehicle evaluation.

Motorsport experience is a plus.

Model based controls application/development is a plus.
