Senior Classic Car Mechanic/Vehicle Technician

We are looking for a Senior Classic Car Mechanic/Vehicle Technician with classic/exotic/premium brands experience who is capable of leading a small team of technicians and working on a wide range of vehicles.

The successful candidate will be responsible for ensuring the mechanical team as a whole produces work to the highest of standards, project managing their own and others workloads, leading by example and ensuring efficiency throughout the department.

Retroclassic Engineering specialise in the restoration and repair of a wide range of vintage, classic, retro and future classic cars, along with carrying out bespoke modifications and ‘restomod’ conversions.

Our premises is based in Moreton Valance, Gloucestershire (just 5 minutes from the M5 Junction 12/13) and is fully equipped to carry out all aspects of mechanical and bodywork restoration.

Your responsibilities will include;

· Vehicle and component strip-down/refurbishment/assembly, major and minor mechanical repairs, engine and transmission rebuilding, engine tuning and set-up of carburettors/fuel injection systems, automotive electrical diagnosis, repair and installation of aftermarket electrical systems, general vehicle restoration tasks

· Project management of vehicle restorations, assisting the admin team with mechanical/restoration estimates, producing detailed parts lists and liaising with other departments to ensure the smooth running of the business and efficient progress of projects as they move through each restoration stage

· Working independently to meet strict project deadlines without constant supervision, managing your own project efficiently including producing parts lists and completion of detailed job records

· Ensuring parts for workshop projects are ordered in a timely manner to ensure continuous progress of workshop jobs, and all consumable items are booked to each job as required

Key Skills for this role include;

· Classic vehicle servicing and inspection, tyre fitting, wheel alignment, vehicle interior and exterior trim strip/fit experience, minor to major mechanical repairs and general fault finding/diagnosis

· Experience in complete vehicle builds within the restoration or motorsport industry, to the highest of standards

· Automotive wiring and electrical system knowledge, carburettor/fuel injection diagnosis and set-up/tuning, engine & transmission rebuilding and motorsport/vehicle conversion experience are important elements within this leading role

All candidates are expected to;

· Have a keen eye for detail, enjoy working to the very highest of standards and always strive for perfection, take pride in the quality of their work, and have a strong interest in classic cars

· Have at least 10 years experience in a relevant field within the automotive industry and hold industry qualifications, be comfortable working to strict deadlines/target hours and able to follow detailed work instructions

· Have good communication and IT skills, a positive ‘can-do’ attitude, a strong work ethic, and be punctual/organised

· Maintain a clean and organised work environment

· Have a positive approach to learning new skills and working as part of a team

· Hold a Full UK Driving Licence

Working Hours: This role is a full-time position working Monday – Friday 8am - 5pm, overtime available

Salary: £35,000 - £55,000 per annum, dependent on experience.
