Classic Car Mechanic/Restoration Technician

We are looking for a Mechanic/Restoration Technician who is capable of working on a wide range of vehicles, with a view to them specialising in the restoration of vehicle parts and restoration of entire vehicles for our larger projects.

Retroclassic Engineering specialise in the restoration and repair of a wide range of vintage, classic, retro and future classic cars, along with carrying out bespoke modifications and ‘restomod’ conversions.

Our premises is based in Moreton Valance, Gloucestershire (just 5 minutes from the M5 Junction 12/13) and is fully equipped to carry out all aspects of mechanical and bodywork restoration.

Your responsibilities will include;

· Vehicle strip-down and assembly, parts cataloguing, refurbishment and overhaul of all vehicle parts, brake/fuel pipe replacement, general mechanical repairs and servicing, vehicle underseal/underbody coating application, corrosion protection, general vehicle restoration tasks

· Washing, cleaning, media and vapour blasting of vehicle components and even complete vehicle body shells, masking components and preparing for paint/coating, building up complete sub-assemblies ready to re-fit to restored vehicles

· Ensuring parts flow throughout each department in an organised and efficient manner and all items are clearly labelled/organised in to their designated storage locations, streamlining the restoration process

· Working independently to meet strict project deadlines without constant supervision, managing your own project efficiently including producing parts lists and completion of detailed job records

Desirable skills for this role include;

· Classic vehicle servicing and inspection, tyre fitting, wheel alignment, vehicle interior and exterior trim strip/fit experience, minor to major mechanical repairs and general fault finding/diagnosis

· Experience in complete vehicle builds within the restoration or motorsport industry would be a distinct advantage

· Experience preparing items for paint, using spraying equipment/spray guns and media blasting equipment would be a distinct advantage, however full training can be provided

All candidates are expected to;

· Have a keen eye for detail, enjoy working to the very highest of standards and always strive for perfection, take pride in the quality of their work, and have a strong interest in classic cars

· Have at least 3 years experience in a relevant field within the automotive industry and hold industry qualifications, be comfortable working to strict deadlines/target hours and able to follow detailed work instructions

· Have good communication and IT skills, a positive ‘can-do’ attitude, a strong work ethic, and be punctual/organised

· Maintain a clean and organised work environment

· Have a positive approach to learning new skills and working as part of a team

· Hold a Full UK Driving Licence

This role is a full-time position working Monday – Friday 8am - 5pm, overtime available

All candidates must live within a reasonable commuting distance of our premises in Moreton Valance, Gloucestershire, GL2 7LZ

Salary: £24,000 - £35,000 per annum, dependent on experience.
