Operations Planner - Williams Racing

Williams Racing, a renowned name in Formula 1, is seeking a skilled Operations Planner to join our high-performance team. This role offers an opportunity to contribute significantly to our racing operations, ensuring critical components move efficiently from design to track.

The Role: Operations Planner

As our Operations Planner, you'll be integral to our production schedule, managing the complex flow of components that come together in a Formula 1 car. You'll oversee the journey of parts from design release to on-time, in-full delivery, handling a portfolio of works orders with precision and care.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Schedule Management: Generate and manage accurate works orders, optimizing daily capacity to inform make-vs-buy decisions and maintain precise delivery dates.

  • Lead Time Expertise: Develop comprehensive knowledge of component and assembly lead times, collaborating with stakeholders to inform planning teams effectively.

  • Production Efficiency: Ensure smooth movement of parts through production, addressing non-conformance reports promptly.

  • Stakeholder Communication: Liaise across departments to maintain clear priorities and provide insights on upcoming demands, including scenario modeling for capacity challenges.

  • BOM Oversight: Ensure availability of all sub-components for manufacturing processes.

  • Delivery Commitment: Manage promise dates and delivery commitments, communicating clearly with internal customers and stakeholders about necessary adjustments.

  • Cross-functional Collaboration: Work closely with Production Schedulers to generate work lists based on accurate priorities and delivery dates.

  • Procurement Coordination: Partner with the Procurement team to expedite delivery of required works orders.

  • Quantity Management: Align with Programme Managers to raise work orders meeting part quantities for key target events.

  • Repair Process: Assist in initiating repair works orders during the assessment of Class 5 parts.

The Ideal Candidate:

  • Proven experience in production control and scheduling, capable of managing multiple complex assembly portfolios.

  • Engineering background, preferably with knowledge of modern Composite and metallic production techniques.

  • Interest or experience in Motorsport – professional or personal.

  • Degree level qualification in Production Management is advantageous.

  • Strong attention to detail and excellent communication skills.

  • Adaptable team player with a proactive attitude, suited to a fast-paced environment.

  • Understanding of Continuous Improvement principles.
