McLaren Racing’s entry in Extreme E and Formula E aims to accelerate McLaren Racing’s sustainability journey and reach a new, more diverse global audience and workforce. Based on the unique Bicester Heritage site, the Extreme E and Formula E teams combined are known as NEOM McLaren Electric Racing.

Purpose of the Role:

As the Lead, Partnerships you’ll be taking on the responsibility for strategic planning and day-to-day operational fulfilment of key commercial partners in the NEOM McLaren Electric Racing Racing portfolio, such that the contractual rights are fully leveraged and maximised, while the long-term individual and company relationships are created and maintained.

Role Dimensions:

  • Reports to Head, Partnerships & Sustainability Activation – Electric Racing.
  • Focus primarily on leading several Formula E and Extreme E primary and major partner accounts.
  • People coaching responsibilities for the Executive and Coordinator team members, supporting across Electric Racing accounts.
  • Account support at strategic and operational level for other team members as required.
  • This role requires extensive and repeated travel both within the UK and internationally and consequently flexibility in working hours will be required.
  • Note that this anticipated growth of the partnership portfolio may require flexibility in responsibilities as defined above.

Principal Accountabilities:

Partnership Management

  • Develop a deep understanding of partner’s business strategies, objectives, target growth markets, competitors and KPI’s / metrics that resonate when evaluating success.
  • Support the team in developing and fulfilling partner business plans (strategy, activation, engagement and measurement) to ensure the partner has a clear framework for success.
  • Support in the development and delivery of the partner’s 360 activation plans to ensure that the partner’s rights are maximised to achieve their objectives and KPIs.
  • Be pro-active in initiatives that could strengthen the value of the partnership.
  • Commercial business mindset to create and convert partner opportunities.
  • Support in the setting of best practices for project management, budget management and client reporting.
  • Support the team, and where applicable, take the lead for own designated accounts, in developing and maintaining relationships with the global stakeholders within the partner company.

Team Management

  • Ability to work cross departmental and cross group collaboration.
  • Support in the delivery and establishment of regular partner reporting procedures internally and externally to track delivery of partner KPIs.
  • Develop personal credibility by behaving with humility and in a confident manner.
  • Build internal reputation and knowledge of the wider business.

  • Work closely with other members of the team to deliver monthly reporting and communications to Partners.
  • Assist colleagues within the Partner Activation team with collective tasks and administration or additional duties as required.

Job requirements

Knowledge, Skills and Experience:

  • Ability to prioritise workload and respond to partner briefs on time and within budget / cost of sale.
  • Demonstrate a broad knowledge of core marketing and sponsorship principles.
  • Demonstrate an ability to understand our partners’ own business drivers and strategies.
  • Presentation skills (both writing and delivery), internally and to partners / suppliers.
  • Excellent communication skills – verbal and written – and attention to detail.
  • Knowledge of, and passion for, sport, entertainment and their ability to have a positive impact.
  • Competencies required: Strategic; Commercial: Collaborative; Creative thinking; Leadership; Organisation; Influencing others.
  • Previous experience of campaign management, sponsorship, brand marketing or product marketing experience is beneficial.
  • Good working knowledge of IT packages (e.g. MS Office suite).
  • Previous experience in working with and managing agencies and suppliers is beneficial.
  • Fluent in spoken and written English (additional languages would be an advantage).

    NEOM McLaren Electric Racing is based at the Bicester Heritage site on the edge of Bicester.
