Engineering Apprentice - Manufacturing

As an apprentice, you'll be an essential part of the Williams Racing team, supporting our mission to push the boundaries of performance and technology.

The Role

Our Level 3 Manufacturing Apprentice programme offers a range of pathways. As an Apprentice, you will be based in Grove, Oxfordshire, working in the factory and then studying alongside this, at our partner apprenticeship providers. This role will start from September 2025. You will be asked during the recruitment process to make a preference from the following areas:

Metallic Manufacturing

The Metallic Manufacturing team is responsible for the production of components for both the Formula 1 car and wind tunnel prototype model. Our machinists interpret technical drawings and use a variety of materials and manufacturing techniques to produce these components to the correct quality standards and specifications.

Composites

As a Composites Apprentice within Williams Racing, you will be given the opportunity to learn a variety of skills within the Composites manufacturing department, laminating, mould manufacturing, trimming, fitting & bonding of F1 components, repair work and the use of jigs & fixtures.

Pattern Shop

As an Apprentice Pattern Maker within Williams Racing, you will be taught traditional bench fitting skills and techniques as well as up to date manufacturing machine processes. You will be exposed to the manufacturing of patterns and moulds for the composite department. You will gain a knowledge of how to work with a variety of composite materials as well as being taught manual and CNC machining.

Fabrication

As an Apprentice Fabricator within Williams Racing, you will be taught traditional trade skills and techniques, as well as up to date manufacturing processes. You will be exposed to production and prototype manufacturing environments where you will learn how to fabricate various parts for the full size F1 car, as well as associated jigs and fixtures and pit stop equipment. You will further gain knowledge of how to work with a variety of ferrous and nonferrous materials.

Inspection

For this Apprentice role within Inspection, you will be given the opportunity to learn a variety of skills within the Inspection department, gaining an understanding of every manufacturing process, and how to inspect parts created. You will be introduced to a variety of tools, from hand tools such as micrometres and callipers, to laser scanning of CAD surfaces and programming CNC co-ordinate measurement machines to inspect complex parts.   

Who We’re Looking For

We're seeking motivated, curious, and passionate individuals who are ready to learn and take on challenges. Ideal candidates will have:

  • A strong interest in engineering, technology, or motorsport
  • A minimum of GCSEs in Maths, English, and Science (Grade 4/C or above) and A-Levels (or equivalent qualifications)
  • Excellent attention to detail and a proactive approach to problem-solving
  • Strong teamwork skills and an eagerness to work collaboratively
  • An ability to communicate effectively and professionally

The Williams Group is based in multi acre complex located in Grove, Oxfordshire.
