A vacancy has arisen for a cell technician to join our Dyno team. The primary responsibility for the successful candidate will be setup and execution of Powertrain and Mechanical test events across the four test cells within our facility – covering transmission, cooling system, brake and full car dyno testing. With regulations reducing garage and track time, our ability to accurately test in the factory is a significant contribution to our on-track performance and reliability. As well as candidates experienced in a Powertrain test environment, we would welcome applications from across the range of technician disciplines as this is an ideal move for someone looking to add breadth as part of their career journey.

Key Accountabilities:

Reporting to the Lead – Dyno Operations, your duties will include:

  • Operate the test console during reliability- and performance- sign-off events for Powertrain and Mechanical systems, in line with Dyno in-house procedures.

  • Responsibility for the correct installation of the Unit Under Test (UUT) into the cell environment, including verifying the requested test parameters.

  • Collaborate with the design, performance, and test engineering teams to identify the most efficient and effective methods of delivering the agreed objectives within a test.

  • Develop a strong working knowledge of our dyno facility, including the control systems and facility plant. Proactively support continuous improvement and undertake knowledge capture documentation as we develop capability.

  • Champion planned servicing and maintenance of our test equipment to ensure we maintain the highest practicable levels of operational efficiency across the season. Partake in maintenance of the test cells including liaison with external specialist contractors.

  • Reporting of feedbacks and contributing to the resolution of dyno-related issues.

  • Support cross-training activities – educating others in your area(s) of specialism, as well as being open to learning about other areas of the car yourself. This includes the support across other areas of Research and Development, for example in our Test and Development Laboratory or Materials Laboratory.

  • Demonstrate a positive Health and Safety culture in all our testing activities.

  • Maintaining excellent housekeeping standards at all times.

  • Support the enablement of our test facilities for commercial use.

Candidate Profile:Essential:

  • Ability to collaborate and negotiate to deliver results across different departments.

  • Ability to read engineering drawings, build fixtures and verify setups for experiments.

  • A proven ability to take the initiative.

  • Curious, committed to continuous learning, and ability to adapt quickly to change.

Desirable:

  • Previous dyno or test bench experience including maintenance and system fault resolution.

  • Good practical knowledge of any of the following systems: gearboxes, hydraulic systems, cooling systems, braking systems.

  • Analysis of live and logged data to draw conclusion of component and system health.

  • Demonstrable experience of working in a high-performance engineering environment.

  • Trackside motorsport experience.

Specific Advantageous Experiences:

  • Experience of AVL PUMA 2.0, MTS, Beckhoff and D-Space user interfaces.

  • Use of ATLAS 10 for analysing live and logged data.

  • Previous trackside F1 experience.

  • Electrical diagnostic ability such as 17th/18th Edition qualification.
