Summary

The Director of Shop Operations is a results-driven team-player who prioritizes safety and leverages mechanical and diagnostic skills, along with creative problem-solving, to deliver real-time solutions in a fast-paced, multi-brand environment. This role is responsible for preparing, maintaining, and monitoring the fleet while leading a team of approximately 12 in-house technicians, a shop manager, and a parts manager. The Director maintains strong relationships with vendors and service providers to ensure quality and timely support. Additionally, this position ensures cost-effective operations, reports to executives on performance, and upholds the highest safety standards.

Essential Job Functions

  • Ensure sustained compliance with regulatory agency requirements governing driver safety, equipment maintenance, record-keeping or similar activity.
  • Lead day-to-day operations of shop department and provide strong management for non-exempt leaders. Mentor leaders, set policy, and provide guidance for day-to-day operations.
  • Direct and coordinate Shop financial and budget activities to fund Shop operations, maximize investments, and increase efficiency.
  • Monitors Collective Data and Labor to ensure timely dispatch and completion of work orders; provides oversight of Shop Management to reduce unnecessary overtime.
  • Anticipate the sale of vehicles; coordinate the purchase and replacement of fleet vehicles.
  • Establish and implement departmental policies, goals, objectives, and procedures, conferring with organization officials, and staff members as necessary.
  • Recruit, hire, train, and develop subordinate leaders and associates; manage shop leadership team.
  • Direct and coordinate activities of departments concerned with the production, pricing, sales, or execution of the supercar experience.
  • Plan and direct activities such as sales promotions, coordinating with other department heads as required.
  • Manage all incoming and outgoing parts for Exotics Racing.
  • Maintains proper inventory level, and the ability to predict future needs; oversee special order parts process and ensure timely delivery.
  • Identify the right part(s) for the make, model and year of vehicles being serviced.
  • Confirm all parts are inventoried correctly in the company used data system.
  • Other duties as assigned

Knowledge

  • Administration and Management — Knowledge of business and management principles involved in strategic planning, resource allocation, human resources modeling, leadership technique, production methods, and coordination of people and resources.
  • Language — Knowledge of the structure and content of the English language including the meaning and spelling of words, rules of composition, and grammar. Bilingual in Spanish is a plus.

  • Sales and Marketing — Knowledge of principles and methods for showing, promoting, and selling products or services. This includes marketing strategy and tactics, product demonstration, sales techniques, and sales control systems.
  • Production and Processing — Knowledge of raw materials, production processes, quality control, costs, and other techniques for maximizing the effective manufacture and distribution of goods.
  • Computers and Electronics — Knowledge of circuit boards, processors, chips, electronic equipment, and computer hardware and software, including applications and programming.
  • Customer and Personal Service — Knowledge of principles and processes for providing customer and personal services. This includes customer needs assessment, meeting quality standards for services, and evaluation of customer satisfaction.
  • Tools: Calculators, desktop computers, scanners, copiers, fax and phone systems.
  • Technology: Continuous knowledge development and understating in the latest and upcoming technologies in a rapidly evolving industry.
  • Other: Comprehensive knowledge and experience with the performance of exotics cars and racing.

Qualifications

Experience and Educations:

  • Five years’ experience in a Management position in a RACING environment.
  • Must have at least 3 to 5 years of experience in an auto parts manager/sales role
  • Must have computer proficiency
  • Team oriented, flexible and focused on maintaining a high level of customer service
  • Valid driver’s license
  • Knowledge of dealer-based computer software a plus
  • Flexible shifts including days/nights and possible weekends or holidays
  • Knowledge of European cars a plus
  • Race team parts experience

Work Environment

Work is typically performed in an office environment while sitting at a computer screen for extended periods. Requires contact with others (face-to-face, by telephone or otherwise), repeating the same physical activities or mental activities over and over. The employee is occasionally required to climb or balance and stoop, crouch, or kneel when working with files Requires making decisions without supervision, freedom to determine tasks, priorities, and goals, being exact or highly accurate, meeting strict deadlines, working with donors, prospects and the public. Requires work with others in a group or team, coordinating or leading others in accomplishing work activities, includes responsibility for work outcomes and results. May work hours during the evening and on weekends.
