Assistant Strength and Conditioning Coach

Hendrick Motorsports, a leading NASCAR Motorsports operation, is currently seeking a full time Assistant Pit Coach for the Strength and Conditioning Department. This position will report to and work under the guidance of the Head Strength and Conditioning Coach. The ideal candidate would have knowledge of nutrition, exercise techniques, and a strong knowledge of physical training methods, including writing and prescribing workouts, to produce maximum performance results. The candidate would have the ability to manage, motivate, and lead others while working within an extremely fast paced environment. The position requires strong communication, flexible work schedule, an excellent ability to execute and implement, and the ability to work weekends and travel if needed.

Responsibilities will include but are not limited to:

  • Assisting of the strength and conditioning program in various capacities that include daily supervision and execution of the strength and conditioning program
  • Taking athletes through daily workout protocols, both pre and post prehab work, as well as field and agility work
  • Ensure appropriate safety precautions are implemented and followed
  • Routine maintenance and cleaning of the HMS weight room
  • Annually, successfully complete CPR, AED and First Aid certifications
  • Actively participate in personal and professional development initiatives
  • Collaborate with the sports performance staff to ensure optimal training
  • Set-up and break down daily training
  • Assist in repairing broken equipment as needed
  • Perform other job-related duties as assigned

The ideal candidate will have:

  • Minimum of a Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution in exercise physiology, kinesiology, health and exercise science or related field
  • Minimum three years of experience in a strength and conditioning role is required
  • Preferably a Master’s degree in exercise and movement science and/or education
  • Current National Strength and Conditioning Association Certification (CSCS) and/or Collegiate Strength and Conditioning Coaches Certification (CSCCa)
  • CPR, AED and First Aid certifications preferred
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office with an emphasis on Excel
  • Other preferred qualifications include previous coaching in a collegiate setting
  • Must have a great work ethic, willingness to adapt, and good communication, interpersonal and team skills
