Fibreworks Composites was founded in 2009 and is privately owned by Guenther Steiner and Joe Hofmann. In 2019 Joe and Guenther decided to launch an AS9100 / ISO certified sister company called Composite Factory. Composite Factory’s primary focus is to diversify our business into Aerospace, Aero structures, Aviation and Defense, and the Medical industries that require a higher level of traceability and certification. Job Summary:

This position will provide high level support to the Machining Shop Operations Manager to enhance our capabilities within our in-house Machine Shop and program development.

Job Role:

CNC Programming duties 50%

  • CNC Programming duties to include new program creation and modification of existing programs for increased efficiency
  • Create and maintain set up sheets and tool lists
  • Develop efficiencies within existing processes and drive the use of industry best practices

Other Department Accountabilities 25%

  • Evaluation of new capital purchases, weighing the needs and cost benefits and making recommendations
  • Work in conjunction with Engineering and Purchasing to find and qualify outside machining services and negotiate pricing and abilities
  • Manage the technology of the CNC Machining department to ensure it is utilized to the maximum benefit. This is to include:
    • Software
    • Machine Specifications
    • Tooling
    • Programming methods
    • Work holding methods
  • Ensure concepts, development and machining processes support customer requirements and standards
  • Work with Quality Manager to set-up ISO systems
  • Quoting for metallic components
  • Assist with Machine Shop ITAR compliance
  • Assist Machining Manager with scheduling
  • Assist with machine shop layout and re-location to new facility
  • Departmental budgeting

Training 25%

  • Create SOPs to document our machining processes and best practices
  • Mentor and create a training program in conjunction with Machine Shop Operations Manager
  • Act as resource for the Machine Shop Operations Manager to enhance his knowledge and understanding of the shop’s growth potential
  • Set up a work instruction platform for higher volume jobs
  • Work with our in-house engineering department to ensure design for manufacturability
  • Must adhere to health and safety procedures, and all workplace policies
  • Other duties as assigned

Additional Qualities:

  • A keen eye for detail and results-driven approach
  • Subject Matter Expert in field of CNC machining and programming
  • Knowledge of Mastercam and multi-axis machining
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills
  • Strong mechanical aptitude
  • Basic knowledge of hand tools and mechanical devices
  • Basic knowledge of machining processes
  • Needs to have a strong appreciation of the importance of completing tasks on time

What You Will Bring to the Team:

  • Extensive experience of machining and CNC operations in excess of 10+ years
  • Extensive Programming of CNC machines for aerospace, mould and die industries
  • A combination of apprentice and continuing education is acceptable
  • Must be a US Citizen or Permanent Resident

Job Type:

  • Exempt, full time

Regular Hours of Work:

Normal Business Hours 7:00AM – 4:00PM, Mon-Fri; Weekends, Holidays and work hours as scheduled by Management.

Work Environment & Physical Requirements:

  • Combination of indoor and outdoor activities with varying conditions
  • Requires walking, standing, sitting, climbing, balancing, bending, reaching, handling, stooping, kneeling, and crouching
  • Ability to lift/carry/push/pull up to 50 pounds
  • May involve operating material handling equipment in a safe manner
  • Work may include exposure to variable noise levels, fumes, airborne particles, hazardous chemicals, etc., requiring personal protective equipment
  • Some positions may require working with small parts/components, necessitating excellent hand-eye coordination and manual dexterity
  • Specific vision abilities required, including close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus
