Set-Up Mechanic

Hendrick Motorsports, a leading NASCAR Motorsports operation, is currently seeking an experienced, highly motivated Set-Up Mechanic. The successful individual will assist in the preparation and installation of the race car set-up to track specifications received from the crew chief and race engineers. The successful individual must be able to communicate well and work closely with shop and track peers. The position requires strong attention to detail, as well as strong knowledge of race car set-up processes.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following:

  • Assist in verifying compliance of the wheel location and offsets to NASCAR gauges.
  • Assist in the finalization and verification of the race set-up of the vehicle.
  • Assist in inputting set-up information into the database.
  • Begin to learn to utilize Romer Arm to confirm set-up specifications and measurements.
  • Reference set-up sheet from crew chief or race engineer to confirm weekly build specifications.
  • Receive direction and guidance from more experienced set-up mechanics to assist in the set-up process.
  • Assist the shop mechanics as needed.

  • Working Under Pressure – ability to complete assigned tasks in stressful situations.
  • Technical Aptitude – ability to comprehend complex technical topics and specialized information.

Skills & Abilities:

  • Minimum two years experience in a related position
  • Requires basic knowledge and understanding of race car components.
  • Must be skilled mechanically. Basic fabrication skills preferred.
  • Prior race experience preferred
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to interact well with others
  • Must be a team player, be able to work a flexible schedule and have a high level of integrity
  • Must possess personal tools and equipment
