Race Team Support Mechanic

We have a new opportunity to be part of the Race Team in the role of Support Mechanic.

 

Purpose

  • To manage and maintain all Trackside Chassis hydraulic related items
  • To accurately set-up all hydraulic and trackside sub assembly suspension systems
  • To manage and maintain all Trackside Sub Assembly components
  • To accurately build and maintain all Front and Rear Wing assemblies
  • To adhere to Build Spec’s, Build Manuals and Technical drawings throughout each event
  • To assist in Factory Sub Assembly as required
  • To ensure all issues are reported to the Chief Mechanic and Reliability Engineer
  • To ensure a safe working environment and all H&S is followed as required
  • To actively participate in Pit stops as allocated
  • To carry out winter pit equipment service and rebuild
  • To travel to all race and test events required
  • To actively contribute to the Team’s primary objective of consistently being a top three team in the FIA Constructor’s Championship

 

Primary Responsibilities

  • To manage, assemble and maintain all trackside Chassis Hydraulics Systems for all events to an exacting standard and within the required time frame
  • To accurately set-up all Hydraulic Suspension Systems as required and to as requested by Race Engineering
  • To accurately manage, assemble and maintain all trackside Sub Assembly Components
  • To assemble and maintain all Front and Rear Wing assembly’s to the correct specification as requested by Aero and Race Engineering
  • To produce an accurate shortages list for each event and ensure this is communicated to the RT Parts Co-ordinator
  • To assist in Factory Sub Assembly as required
  • To actively assist the car crews as required
  • To ensure correct parts are fitted and reflect the associated allocations
  • To adhere to the necessary documentation required to assemble the cars
  • To Communicate effectively and adhere to radio protocol
  • To ensure that the cars, parts, drawings, and procedures are kept within the confines of the team
  • To actively participate in Pit stops as allocated and ensure all training requests are adhered too.
  • To assist in garage set-up and pack-down
  • To work proactively, responsibly, and professionally at all times and to respect and comply with the company’s reporting structure
  • To maintain and develop skill levels to industry standard

 

Skills & Knowledge Required

  • Possess an excellent working knowledge of Race Cars
  • Possess a thorough understanding of Car set-up, Operating Procedures, and all Race Team requirements pre, post and during events
  • Demonstrate a good working knowledge of allocations, drawings, and schedules
  • Previous experience as a Race mechanic in a Formula One environment / high level Motorsport environment
  • Ability to demonstrate good working relationships with internal departments and outside suppliers
  • To be available to travel as and when required to fulfil the requirements of a race team mechanic
  • To be self-motivated and to motivate others to thrive in a challenging environment
  • Ability to calmly and confidently work under pressure to achieve targets and deliver results within required timescales
  • Ability to demonstrate strong written and oral communication and organisational skills
  • Possess an innovative and flexible approach to creative problem solving and possess the ability to work through challenges in a scientific and analytical manner
  • Be results orientated and be confident in your decision-making skills
  • To have a flexible attitude and ability to work as part of a team in a demanding and rapidly changing environment
  • To be flexible to working hours as required
