ABOUT THE POSITION:

Speedway Motorsports is seeking a manager or Director, Marketing to play an integral role in leading our organization by taking care of the team members who carry out the marketing function at the speedways within Speedway Motorsports.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

Marketing:

  • LEAD METRIC: Product Sales
  • This position will live, breathe, cultivate, protect and maintain the Bristol Motor Speedway brand while keeping ticket sales, sponsorship sales and brand awareness top-of-mind.
  • Serve as Marketing function leader
  • Working closely and collaboratively with Communications, Events, and Ticketing function leaders along with the VP of Marketing and speedway General Manager to lead the creation, enhancing and utilization of Speedway Motorsports business processes and marketing templates including business plans, creative briefs, project briefs, budgets and creative development / management to meet objectives including:
  • Filling the grandstands, premium areas, parking and campgrounds for events and driving admissions revenue
  • Developing campaign creative
  • Managing resources including
    • marketing team members
    • marketing internships
    • budgets
    • third party marketing agencies
  • Using insights and data from consumer strategy group to measure and improve marketing campaign effectiveness
  • Work with Ticketing to develop ticketing campaigns, improved customer information, and frictionless ticket purchase process
  • Oversee the development and execution of the paid media strategy, including all media buying (in tandem with our media buyer from Charlotte)
  • TV/Broadcast

  • Manage all media trades (experience working with stations on media trades a plus)
  • Work across the organization to create marketing and PR strategies, ticket promotions, sponsorship pitches and activations.
  • Identify, use, and share best practices across speedways and
  • Provide counsel to track marketing personnel across the enterprise
  • Develop and improve marketing plans including campaigns around
  • Key user groups
    • Motorsports enthusiasts
    • Campers
    • Families
    • Live event attendees
  • Renewal and Retention efforts
  • Benchmark and improve the customer experience (based on CSS data) in order to leverage improvements for customer acquisition and retention.
  • Departments include Levy, ticketing, operations, security, maintenance, finance, camping, transportation, fire/safety, merchandise, public relations
  • Work with Speedway and NASCAR to effectively and efficiently coordinate marketing and PR efforts and use of the Joint Marketing Funds and the Driver Event Promotions for your NASCAR event
  • Lead, train and mentor direct reports, providing the right balance of direction and freedom while maintaining complete accountability for the team’s ultimate performance.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:

  • Five to seven years of measurable success in managing brands and creative marketing campaigns
  • Three to five years managing media strategy, media buying and trade contracts
  • Willingness to work with teammates across the entire organization to deliver measurable marketing results
