The Company is seeking a Director of Accounting to join its dynamic team.

 

About the Role:

The Director of Accounting will be a highly experienced and driven professional reporting directly to the executive team. This leadership role will be instrumental in driving the company's accounting and financial controls engine. The successful candidate will possess extensive knowledge of accounting principles, systems, and processes, and a passion for partnering with key stakeholders to optimize the business in the digital online publishing industry. Key skills will be focused on reporting and budgeting.

 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Accounting Systems Expertise & Ownership:

Oversee the ongoing accounting function, including monthly close, AP/AR processing, and tax filings, in collaboration with external audit and tax relationships.

  • Ensure compliance with all GAAP, federal, state, and local laws in the US and Canada.
  • Drive continuous improvement of accounting systems, processes, and infrastructure to support business growth and complexity in the digital online publishing industry.
  • Extensive experience in valuation and budgeting
  • Optimize Accounting Engine and Manage the Accounting Team:

Partner closely with the executive leadership to build and optimize the next iteration of accounting systems (Oracle NetSuite), team, and infrastructure.

  • Experience with Accounting Processes and Controls, SOX experience preferred.
  • Provide leadership within the business and collaborate with the Executive Team to define general financial management across the organization.
  • Able to build accounting forecast models from the ground level.
  • Manage and develop the accounting team, ensuring a high level of performance and growth.
  • Policy Formation & Compliance:

Ensure consistency and streamline procedures across the accounting department, eliminating unnecessary administrative steps.

  • Individual should be able to help propose/draft/implement policies and procedures.
  • Take ownership of the implementation of internal financial reporting
  • Business Support:

Partner with business units to support the success of key performance indicators (KPIs), particularly related to cost control, in the digital online publishing industry.

  • Work closely with the private equity owner of the business and make informed suggestions around how to improve the accounting state of the business.

 

Requirements/Qualifications:

  • Bachelorâs degree in accounting, Finance, or a related field; CPA designation preferred but not required.
  • Minimum of 10 years of relevant work experience in accounting within high-growth companies, with at least 2 years of supervisory experience.
  • Experience at a top-tier accounting firm or internally at a known organization focused on Financial Reporting.
  • Strong experience in technical accounting (e.g., writing/reviewing position papers).
  • SOX experience preferred.
  • Strong technical proficiency and demonstrated knowledge in GAAP.
  • Proven experience in building and managing an accounting team or function within finance.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to create executive communications, dashboards, and content for presentations.
  • Ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional stakeholders to drive results.
  • Proficient in MS Office, accounting software (Oracle NetSuite â Cloud Accounting), and databases.

The annual base salary range for this role is $120,000 - $180,000 with bonus opportunity.
