Vehicle Dynamics Engineer

For many fans of Formula One, the sport exists between lights and chequered flag on a Sunday afternoon. It begins and ends with the exploits of the drivers on the track. But this is merely the tip of the spear. The reality of modern F1 is that of a complex and intertwined operation, every part of which needs to perform near its limit if success is to be achieved. From the pit crew searching for the ultimate repeatable pit stop, to the inspiration of the designers, the application of engineers and the herculean efforts of an army of fabricators and machinists. Much of our success is thanks to the diversity of thought and spectrum of skill sets held within the team, our ability to recognise unique contributions from individual team members is just a part of why we love what we do.

Job Description

Red Bull Advanced Technologies (RBAT) is a dynamic hub of innovation, consistently pushing the boundaries across land, sea, and air. Our project portfolio is unparalleled. Beyond the groundbreaking RB17 Hypercar and the Red Bull-commissioned submarine, we actively partner with the KTM Moto GP Team and collaborate with Alinghi Red Bull Racing in their America’s Cup campaign.

Red Bull Advanced Technologies are constantly elevating performance to new heights, and the recently announced RB17 two-seat Hypercar is set to be the ultimate on-track driving experience pushing design and technical boundaries far beyond what has previously been imagined.

We are looking for an enthusiastic Vehicle Dynamics Engineer to join our Performance and Simulation team, carrying out modelling, simulation, and optimisation of a variety of dynamic systems and vehicles across Red Bull Advanced Technologies projects.

Key responsibilities in this role include:

  • Simulations and performance studies from initial concept to physical testing
  • Simulator, rig and vehicle testing to develop hardware and optimise performance
  • Setup optimisation and calibrations using offline simulations and driver-in-the-loop simulators
  • Data analysis and correlation between real world and simulation
  • Development of control systems strategies such as active suspension or active aerodynamics
  • Vehicle and sub-system model development, with real-time implementation for driver-in-the-loop simulator
  • Continuous development of simulation and analysis tools
  • Communicating effectively with groups such as Aerodynamics and Design to provide them with objective, analysis-based directions and solutions
  • To undertake client and supplier liaison, participate in meetings and provide regular updates on project work and outputs as required.

To be considered for this Vehicle Dynamics Engineer position, you will:

  • Have previous experience within a similar role, ideally within Motorsport or high-performance road cars.
  • Be confident in a fast-paced engineering environment.
  • Have experience using Matlab, and modelling software such as Simulink or Dymola
  • Have good knowledge of Vehicle Dynamics.

We offer more than just a job. Beyond competitive salaries, our comprehensive benefits package includes private health care, life assurance, and a company-contributed pension scheme. You’ll also enjoy perks like an on-site gym, fitness classes, daily food allowance, free barista style hot drinks, and of course, lots of Red Bull to keep you firing on all cylinders!
