Manufacturing Controls Engineer

What to Expect

We have a fantastic opportunity within the OpEx Manufacturing Engineering Department for a talented "Controls Engineer " supporting production during shift. The role will promote and support the continued development of the Manufacturing Controls Function.

Reporting into the Manufacturing Controls Lead and working closely with the current and future vehicle Manufacturing Engineering teams, you will be responsible for the diagnostic fault analysis of both vehicle and test stands within the manufacturing and development facilities.

You will work with vehicles within manufacturing, supporting from pre-production build into full production.

What You'll Do

  • Rapid online fault analysis of both vehicle and test stand,
  • Introduction of New Line side automotive test/manufacture equipment
  • Support ongoing improvement plan, with respect to RFT, and improved TAKT requirements.
  • Maintain and update Off Board controller reprogramming facility, with the focus of improving capacity and reliability.
  • Acting with initiative and innovation, actively thinking of fresh approaches to current or new manufacturing concerns or restrictions
  • Hands on approach to vehicle electrical concern resolution, and rectification,
  • Ability/capability to learn to program in multiple programming languages, inclusive of JAVA and C/C++
  • Ability to manage their own workload, and work independently, and proactively.

What You'll Bring

  • A high level of computer literacy a must
  • The candidate will have excellent knowledge of automotive systems including:

o

Universal Diagnostics Services (UDS)

o

EDS

o

Vehicle CAN/LIN networks

o

Vehicle controller interaction / configuration

o

Vehicle Ethernet

  • The candidate will have a clear understanding of McLaren brand requirements
  • An ability to act under pressure with calmness, clarity of thought and decisive authority is essential
  • Ability to read and understand automotive electrical wiring schematics, and component drawings
  • Knowledge of and ability to use Softing Diagnostic Tool Set V7/8/9 highly advantageous
  • Knowledge of and ability to use Vector Diagnostics Tools, CANAlyzer, CANape, and CANdella Studio, and Vector Vsignalyzer highly advantageous
  • Understanding and knowledge of ODX (Open Diagnostics exchange). The ability to create and modify ODX highly advantageous
  • Microsoft office, and particularly Excel highly advantageous
