An exciting opportunity has arisen for a CNC Setter Operator to join our team at our Northampton site.

 

Job Description:

Cosworth are seeking a highly talented and motivated individual to join our team on full-time, permanent basis. As a CNC Setter Operator, you will help provide support and ensure all aspects of setting and operating machinery are done in a safe manner.

The Role:

  • Responsible for keeping 11 CNC machines running over 2 shifts.
  • Assist with new part programme prove outs.
  • Monitor tool life and responsible for tool change and resetting using Zoller tool measuring equipment.
  • Support load station operators to ensure parts are loaded correctly.
  • Ability to review CMM reports and take corrective action for any reported.
  • Carry out TPM checks covering machine alignment.
  • Ability to monitor machines performance and identify/diagnose problems in order to take appropriate action.
  • Understand hydraulic fixture operation and checks required to report when servicing is required.
  • Knowledge of the Fastems FMS system would be an advantage but not necessary.
  • Consider the health and safety, environmental and energy impact of all activities.
  • Support the Company’s compliance with the Data Protection Act 2018, following policy and best practice.

Candidate Profile:  

  • A time served apprenticeship, although not essential with the required machining background.
  • A full understanding of engineering drawings and geometric tolerances.
  • Experience in setting and operating 4 and 5 axis machines with Fanuc controls.
  • The ability to communicate effectively with all Production and Quality shift personnel.
  • Extensive knowledge of cutting tools and be familiar with CNC tool holding methods.
  • CNC milling experience would be advantageous.
  • Computer literate.
  • Demonstrate good interpersonal, problem solving and communication.

Shift Details:

This role will be rotating weekly on an early and late shift.

Early Shift

Monday - Thursday: 06:00 to 14:00

Friday - 06:00 to 13:00

Late Shift

Monday - Thursday: 14:00 to 22:00

Friday - 13:00 to 20:00
