Purpose of the Role:

McLaren sells a wide range of consumer merchandise and licensed products through authorised resellers, B2B activities and an expanding eCom business.

The purpose of the role is to support the Licensing Manager assisting in the day to day running of the department and key licensees. Key objectives of the role are to ensure licensee documentation is kept up to date, support in the delivery of the licensing strategy and support the team administratively.

The role will involve working with a wide variety of contacts at all levels – across the business internally with Marketing, Racing and Automotive and with License partners and suppliers.

Role Dimensions:

This role will see you supporting the day-to-day operational fulfilment of key licensing partners, supporting our Licensing Manager as/when required. In addition, you'll support the wider Licensing and Merchandise team and Senior leadership in general.

Principal Accountabilities:

Partnership Licensee Responsibility:

  • Support the Licensing Manager across a range of licensees to ensure successful product launches and 360 marketing activation which maximise returns and achieve KPIs by:
    • Ensure licensees are using latest brand assets and have access to these 
    • Maintaining accurate and up to date documentation including: product critical paths, strategy roadmap documents, product launch calendars and range plans across all partners
    • Weekly report management and updates
    • Organise and support product approvals with relevant “approver” for designs and product samples in line with brand guidelines, alongside maintaining relevant approval and asset management systems in place
    • Support in the facilitation and development of product concept, designs, sampling, artwork and final specification
    • Ensure clear, accurate, detailed verbal and written direction and feedback is given to licensees / suppliers within the required timeframes
  • Implement quality control across all samples, manage the intake and distribution of samples across the business
  • Support Manager with liaising on internal/external logistics/warehouse regarding product ID, such as SKU’s/product code/barcodes etc
  • Support relevant team with buying from suppliers and licensees, planning delivery intake schedules, stock transfers and other operational/distribution tasks
  • Begin to develop and maintain strong relationships with day-to-day stakeholders within the organisation and supporting teams ensuring all teams have accurate information across projects at all times
  • Ability to carry out relevant product reviews and market analysis, keeping up with trends and new product launches
  • Apply the McLaren brand principles to ensure all activation is executed to high standards and all brand and regulatory guidelines are adhered to

Job requirements

Knowledge, Skills and Experience:

  • Be able to support the team across general admin such as purchase order raising, scheduling meetings and taking meeting notes as required
  • Good working knowledge of IT packages (e.g. MS Office suite)
  • Organised and capable of dealing with multiple workstreams, delivering them on time and to brief, to the expected standards, working across departments
  • Ability to work under pressure, prioritise workload and report proactively with rigour to immediate managers and business as needed
  • Willingness to learn and develop an understanding of our licensing partners’ business drivers and strategies
  • Knowledge of, and passion for the sports marketing and entertainment landscape
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills both verbal and written paying close attention to detail given frequent interaction with several stakeholders
  • Fluent in English. Other languages would be an advantage

based at the iconic McLaren Technology Centre (MTC) near Woking. Our state of
