Subassembly Mechanic

Hendrick Motorsports, a leading NASCAR Motorsports operation, is currently seeking an experienced, highly motivated Subassembly Mechanic. This position will be responsible for weekly servicing, maintenance, and assembly of the Xfinity suspension components including, but not limited to, housings, truck arms, spindles, control arms and all associated components. This position will be required to maintain communication with the Crew Chief, Car Chief along with shop staff to ensure weekly builds are completed in a timely and accurate fashion. During breaks in Xfinity schedule, the sub assembly mechanic will be utilized in other areas of the shop, including but not limited to the brake room, Mechanical 1 and Mechanical 2.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following:

  • Provide support and interaction to team engineers and crew chiefs regarding the race related to Xfinity suspension components
  • Responsible for assembly, disassembly, rebuild, and quality control of Xfinity suspension components.
  • Assist in the inventory management and order management of suspension related parts.
  • Interact with related suppliers and affiliates regarding new product development and advancement.
  • Record all suspension related information in the team database capturing team information, mileage, and weekly completion data.
  • During Xfinity Breaks
  • Assist with the assembly of Cup cars in Mechanical 1 and Mechanical 2
  • Assist with servicing of Cup brake systems – calipers, rotors, master cylinders and pedal boxes

Skills & Abilities:

  • Minimum two years’ experience in a related position required
  • Must possess a strong mechanical aptitude and a thorough knowledge and understanding of mechanical and brake systems
  • Must possess the ability to follow specific and detailed procedures
  • Prior race experience required
  • Must possess the ability to work a flexible schedule and travel as needed
  • Must possess the ability to lead by example and teach others
  • Must possess strong problem solving capabilities
  • Must be a team player and possess a high level of integrity
  • Must possess personal tools and equipment
