Senior Engineer Quality Systems

What to Expect

As the Senior Quality Systems Engineer reporting to the Head of TQM (Total Quality Management), you will be responsible for the Quality Systems (QCR system, Warranty Data Management system, SAP Quality system, Quality SharePoint system etc.) that incorporates best practice and TQM principles, driving the ‘process quality with an aim of product quality’ approach. This will require you to manage a small team of individuals to deliver all aspects of the role as well as working centrally within Quality, engage cross functionally in the quality network and interact positively with the wider company.

This leadership role centralises the ownership of the Quality systems along with data control, analysis, reporting and continuous improvement. The role will utilise the whole potential of the analysis tools to drive the rest of the quality team and the wider business in fast efficient understanding and accurate response to quality performance.

What You'll Do

  • Continuous development of the team in order to evolve to the ever-changing business requirements and industry best practice approaches.
  • Management and ownership of the quality systems used to control, record, report and direct the activities central to Quality including of their development and optimisation.
  • Management, negotiation, and liaison with all areas within Quality and wider business to align the requirements with the capability of the Quality Systems.
  • The systems under the control of this responsibility to be used to create and support the quality and financial planning for vehicle performance.
  • Create a centralised set of analysis and reporting that balances the information required for teams to prioritise their workload.
  • Develop a suite of reports that will include performance to target as well as a requirement for accurate forecasting capabilities.
  • Deliver clearly defined quality systems that support and enable management teams around the business to understand and continuously improve their quality performance.
  • Liaise with the Heads of Departments within Quality and the leadership of the wider network to ensure the ability to support and deliver the required service.
  • Drive the Continuous Improvement (SAP CI) process central to Quality (Business Process Owner).
  • Utilise the systems network to achieve a more collaborative way of working and utilisation of data incorporating industry best practice.
  • Lead, mentor and motivate the wider team in the spirit of standardisation and continuous improvement to provide the right balance of reporting and prioritisation.
  • Develop a team of experts that can use the various systems and packages available to optimise the use of data to provide clear direction and control.
  • Manage succession plans and training to reduce single points of failure in areas of high dependency.

What You'll Bring

  • Experienced professional from a manufacturing based industry with relevant knowledge and experience in Quality, Production, PD and Finance.
  • Demonstrated history in systems development relating to the control of data and related analytical methodologies ideally within vehicle quality and warranty.
  • Educational qualifications are required at degree level (or equivalent) in a subject relevant to the role responsibilities.
  • Experience of leading systems development across a number of different functions.
  • Knowledge of effective leadership and management practices to lead and develop a high-performing Quality team.
