Your responsibilities

Summary:

The Aftermarket Quality Technician is responsible for ensuring manufacturing quality processes are being followed and overall product quality is being upheld within the Aftermarket production area. This team member will assist in product measurements, confirming process setup, performing quality audits and participating in problem solving activities. The Aftermarket Quality Technician is expected to provide support to and collaborate with members of OPS, engineering and logistics.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Maintains a safe working environment by complying with all safety and environmental policies in the workplace. Advocates for and promotes a safe work environment by reporting Near Misses and/or other safety and environmental hazards, wearing all required PPE and encouraging others to do the same.
  • Works with OPS leadership to perform/confirm production quality checks and product inspections using various measurement tools and evaluation techniques.
  • Evaluates weld cross sections for welder setup approval.
  • Perform and/or evaluate weld tensile testing results (Instron or Test Resources load frames).
  • Documents inspections results and updates status of suspect materials by entering data into SAP database.
  • Provide clear and consistent communication on a regular basis across all shifts within the Aftermarket functional teams.
  • Assists in quality investigations of suspect materials to determine the acceptance or rejection of products and components, including verifying parameter requirements, verifying weld quality, visual inspections, verifying paint thickness, confirming documentation, sorting of materials, damper performance testing (Groepler),
  • Performs audits on the production floor to confirm Quality Systems Standards are being followed.
  • Performs gage calibration and routine maintenance of all laboratory measuring and test equipment and tracks activities in the gage management system GAGEpack.
  • Provides assistants to engineers to ensure production equipment is consistently performing at a high accurate level by utilizing statistical software.
  • Assists Bilstein project teams for data collection and process documentation for the Production Part Approval Process (PPAP).
  • Conducts weekly investigation audits for cleanliness of production parts and components.
  • Collects and tracks parts identified as scrap and resolves any discrepancies in the reporting.
  • Ensures compliance and safety of all activities within the organization standards and policies.
  • Performs all other duties and responsibilities as assigned.

Your profile

Qualifications & Experience:

  • Possesses a stable work history, preferably in a manufacturing environment, and a strong personal desire to work safely and maintain a safe working environment.
  • Experience in manufacturing capacity assembling and operating machines, using test equipment and gauges (e.g. calipers, micrometers, height gage, etc.), and knowledge of Quality systems.
  • Knowledge of Metrology, GD&T, Blueprints, Measuring Techniques, Calibrations, Traceability, Quality Standards and ISO Standards.
  • Strong hands-on mechanical aptitude with the ability to troubleshoot equipment issues.
  • Demonstrated basic statistical knoweldge.
  • Possesses a logical method of problem solving and willingness to learn and improve one’s skills. Familiarity with problem solving techniques (e.g. 5 why, Fishbone diagrams, Shainin Red X, Six Sigma, etc.)
  • Possesses good hand-eye coordination and is able to perform detailed work with a strong attention to detail and quality.
  • Position is required to test and pass a Near Vision Acuity Test.
  • Position requires the ability to work flexiable hours and required overtime that can be substantial during peak customer production periods.
  • Experience working with large ERP systems (SAP preferred).
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office Products (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
  • Demonstrated ability to maintain excellence and accuracy in a dynamic, fast-paced, multi-disciplinary environment.
  • Ability to effectively communicate technical information in one-on-one & small group situations to Customers, clients, & others.
  • Highly organized with ability to work independently as well as part of a team.
  • Exhibits integrity through fair and ethical behaviors in all activities; maintains accountability for performance.
  • Strong attention to detail with well-developed organizational and communication skills.
  • Proven experience developing work processes to improve outcomes for the team/customers.

Education:

  • High School Diploma or G.E.D Required.
