We have an exciting opportunity for a Performance and Simulation Engineer to join our Driver in the Loop (DIL) Simulator team.

About The Role

  • Working collaboratively as part of the DIL Simulator Team, identify and develop solutions to address the performance limitations and weaknesses of the current F1 car, resulting in the delivery of lap time improvements.

  • Carry out pre, post and on-event support, assisting the broader team to maximise the Race weekend performance.

  • Monitor and assess correlation of the vehicle and sub-system models, ensuring validity of simulation results and suggesting key areas for improvement.

  • Support future car concept development using the appropriate simulation tools and analyses to aid holistic car performance development.

  • Contribute to the continuous advancement of the simulator and associated modelling tools, improving the team’s ability to analyse and develop vehicle performance.

  • Support the advancement of in-house tools and processes by communicating opportunities for enhanced data quality and maximise efficiency.

  • Develop new methodologies for performance analysis in support of objective technical decision making.

To be successful you will have:

Essential:

  • Excellent academic background with a Mechanical or Aerospace Engineering Degree (preferably masters, 2:1 minimum grade) or equivalent qualification.

  • Experience with simulation and performance analysis in Formula One or another top-level motorsport category or an equivalent high-level engineering industry.

  • Excellent analytical skills and ability to process and infer conclusions from large sets of data.

  • Strong appreciation for vehicle dynamics theory and efficient modelling & coding techniques.

  • Ability to work collaboratively in interdisciplinary teams, to deadlines, and under minimal supervision.

  • Highly motivated, enthusiastic, and organised self-starter with excellent communication skills

  • Experience with Matlab is essential.

Desirable

  • Familiarity with Dymola is a bonus.
