Job Title: No. 2 Mechanic – Indy NXT

Location: Indianapolis

Terms: Full-Time

Special Requirements: Travel including all INDY-NXT races

ABOUT THE ROLE

In this role, you will assist in the preparation, operation, and safety of race cars, supporting the No.1 Mechanic in ensuring the highest standards of performance and safety. This position requires a blend of technical knowledge, leadership ability, and attention to detail, all while operating in a high-pressure, fast-paced racing environment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Race Car Preparation & Operation:
    • Assist the No.1 Mechanic in the meticulous preparation and operation of race cars for race events.
    • Collaborate with the No.1 Mechanic to build cars to spec, according to build and setup sheets.
    • Support daily, weekly, and monthly build and service schedules.
  • Technical Expertise & Safety:
    • Ensure that race cars are safe, properly functioning, and meet technical specifications.
    • Report and address any identified safety hazards to help maintain a safe work environment.
  • Logistics & Team Collaboration:
    • Assist in loading necessary equipment, spare parts, and other essential items onto the transporter for race events.
    • Work collaboratively with other team members and assist with additional duties as needed.
  • Work Area Management:
    • Keep the work area clean, organized, and efficient at all times.

Requirements:

  • Experience & Skills:
    • Strong mechanical experience, preferably in motorsport, with a focus on open-wheel racing.
    • Ability to collaborate effectively with the No.1 Mechanic and other team members.
    • High attention to detail, excellent communication skills, and the ability to perform under pressure.
  • Travel & Work Schedule:
    • Must be available for extensive domestic travel (approx. 100 days per year).
    • Flexibility to work outside traditional hours, including weekends and extended hours during race events.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience with Indy NXT or similar race car platforms.
  • Ability to follow technical drawings and setup sheets.
  • Familiarity with motorsport safety standards and protocols.

Additional Information:

This full-time position is crucial to ensuring the team’s success during race events. As a No.2 Mechanic, you will play an integral role in the team’s operations and overall performance, working closely with the No.1 Mechanic and other team members to achieve optimal results.
