Lead Stress Engineer

Within the Engineering Office we have a new vacancy for Lead Stress Engineer.

 

Lead Stress Engineer - The Role

Working in the Structures Team you will be responsible for leading a team of engineers to provide structural solutions for a defined area of the car which demonstrate a measured performance improvement and with reliability calculated as being within set guidelines.

You will work to have the confidence of the Chief Engineers to provide technical advice in your particular area of expertise.

You will have a proactive approach to your work to maintain communication with other departments and ensure a reliable optimised solution throughout the product life cycle.

You will also be responsible for:

  • Taking technical ownership of key areas of the car and assist Head of Section with planning. Organise, guide and support your team to deliver analysis work to an agreed schedule
  • Understand the car performance as a whole and provide technical solutions which give an overall performance improvement. Contribute to developing and maintaining the Structures Department best practices including reporting.
  • Work closely with the Head of Structures on a daily basis and act in a considered manner to assist with the smooth running of the Dept.
  • Work with the Head of Structures to improve analysis techniques and technical ability of the Dept.
  • Provide complete technical solutions including consideration of implications of design to other departments including Aero, Vehicle Performance, Manufacture, Test & Validation etc.
  • Sign off complex assemblies and bring to the attention of Head of Structures any technical difficulties that may risk the reliability / performance of the car.
  • Work proactively with other sections to diagnose faults and organise corrective action. Liaise with design groups and Test & Validation to ensure quarantined components are checked and tested appropriately prior to release. Verify and sign off NCRs where necessary.

 

Lead Stress Engineer - The Person

A Stress Engineer with several years’ experience in high end motorsport and having had exposure to most areas of the car.

A relevant high quality engineering degree.

Has an emotionally mature approach and possesses strong inter-personal skills. Can demonstrate strong management skills and ability to motivate and lead a group of engineers to deliver high quality technical solutions in challenging circumstances. Ability to think laterally and suggest novel solutions to technical problems.

Candidates must be self-motivated, capable of working with minimal supervision and delivering high quality technical solutions to crucial deadlines.
