What to Expect

This is an excellent opportunity to play a pivotal role in helping to shape the future of McLaren Commercial Operations during a period of exciting business growth. Reporting directly to the Senior Manager Business Strategy you will form an important part of the Team.

What You'll Do

  • Strategic Plan – Manage the detailed planning process across the entire Commercial Operations function ensuring that a cohesive rolling 5-year strategy is aligned, approved, professionally documented and communicated to key stakeholders. Act as the primary point of contact with Product Strategy to ensure planning is fully aligned.
  • Annual Business Planning – Manage the annual business planning process for the next full calendar year. Act as primary point of contact, co-ordinating all contributing functions (e.g., Marketing, MSO, Aftersales, Regions) to ensure that key deadlines are achieved.
  • Business Interface – Connect the central UK Team and the Regional Teams in terms of business planning ensuring that market nuances are understood and factored into the planning process.
  • Business Integration – Regularly and proactively interact with key stakeholders (e.g., Product, Aftersales, MSO, Marketing, Finance, Regions) within the wider business. Ensure that Commercial Operations requirements are fully considered and clearly communicated.
  • Industry Trends – Monitor trends, innovations and best practice within the automotive industry and the competitor landscape to clearly identify risks and opportunities.
  • Team Co-ordination – Co-ordinate all wider Commercial Operations functions (e.g., Network Development, Training, Pre-owned etc) to ensure that all planning is fully unified and inter-connected.
  • Gateway Process – Manage all Commercial Operations inputs into the Product Gateway process ensuring that key deliverables are achieved to the right standard and on-time. Attend Gateway meetings and prepare regular status reports and brief the Senior Leadership Team regarding any risks or opportunities.
  • Limited Series Allocation – Manage implementation of the global allocation and deposit strategy for limited series products. Ensure that the agreed process is clearly communicated and understood. Monitor progress and advise the Senior Manager Business Strategy via regular updates and status reporting. Act as primary point of contact when co-ordinating plans with internal functions (e.g., Marketing, MSO, Aftersales) and Regional Teams.
  • Continual Improvement – Drive a culture of constant innovation and improvement. Challenge processes at every level. Propose clear recommendations to drive operational efficiency and manage delivery through to completion.
  • KPI Setting – Support the Senior Manager Business Strategy with the Annual Business Planning Process, assist in managing KPI scorecard performance reporting, quarterly regional KPI performance reviews and action planning (on both a global and regional level).
  • Directors Forums – Co-ordinate all contributing stakeholders to ensure that content is provided in the correct format and on-time allowing for issuing of a pre-read pack.
  • Financial Management – Review complex numerical data, identify key trends and contribute to clearly structured long-term projections as part of the business planning process.
  • Team Representation – Act as proxy for the Senior Manager Business Strategy as and when required.
  • Projects – Support the Senior Manager Business Strategy with specific ad hoc strategic projects ensuring key timelines are achieved.

What You'll Bring

  • Educated to Degree level.
  • Strategic business planning experience (ideally gained within an automotive manufacturer).
  • High level of business acumen.
  • Strong project management skills.
  • Strong relationship management skills.
  • Proven ability to act under pressure with calmness, clarity of though and decisive authority.
  • Broad understanding of global automotive market (legislation etc).
  • Proven ability to manage and interpret complex data.
  • Proven communication skills (written and verbal).
  • Strong negotiation skills.
  • Highly I.T literate (Microsoft applications).
