Composite Design Engineer

This position is located in Maranello and reports to the Head of Composite Design. Working in a dynamic design environment with opportunity to grow. Supporting the design for both current and future car on all composite related projects. Responsible for delivering weight, quality, compliance and reliability design targets.


Key Responsibilities:


  •  Promote teamwork and effective communications to develop working relationships between all personnel and departments.
  • Design support for a variety of composite components and assemblies.
  • Design studies for the concept stage of the new car design program.
  • Liaise and support the Aero and FE department to achieve quality/compliance/strength/weight targets.
  • Thorough knowledge of composite materials and production techniques.
  • Full knowledge of the F1 technical regulations.
  • Follow all safety regulations in all venues.
  • Other duties as assigned by the Head of Composites Design or their
    designee.



Education and Work Experience:

  • Degree in Mechanical engineering with a strong knowledge of composite materials.
  • A minimum of 4 years experience working as a composite design engineer within motorsport


Specialized Knowledge and Skills:


  • Strong communication skills, written and verbal.
  • Have an excellent understanding of technical regulations
  • Strong technical background in F1 racing car design
  • Work to a consistently high standard in stressful and time sensitive situations.
  • Quick decision-making skills whilst working through problems in a scientific and analytical way.
  • Work well within a team environment with personnel at all levels.
  • A sympathetic approach to your work colleagues and an ability to integrate within a group environment.
  • A can-do positive approach and a willingness to help others is essential.



Equipment and Applications:


  •  Solid computer knowledge, preferred experience in Microsoft Office products and ERP Systems.
  • Must be proficient in the use of CAD system: Catia V5 / V6 3dx
  • Ability to follow complex regulations.


Work Environment Physical Demands:


An ability to work and prioritize within a high pressure, time sensitive environment while retaining a methodical approach is essential. The role
may require occasional domestic & international travel and a willingness to work long and flexible hours including weekends.
