We are currently looking an experienced Control Systems Engineer to join our expanding Heritage team here at Williams. In this role you will be responsible for the electronic and control systems configuration and operation of Heritage F1 vehicles. You will also Proactively assist with preparation, build and servicing of F1 cars and subcomponents (Williams and client owned) to Williams standards, prior to, during and post events.
As a Lead Control Systems Engineer, your key responsibilities will be:

Modernisation of legacy systems to help keep heritage vehicles operational.

Assist in the preparation and running of the electronic systems used by Heritage race cars operating on legacy equipment.

Work to update associated equipment by means of modernisation of computers, tools, software etc.

Analysis of the vehicles data to ensure all the electronic systems are operating correctly, safely, reliably and efficiently.

Configuration and tuning of the various control systems used on the vehicles.

Lead the diagnosis and rectification of any car-based issues related to the electronic and control systems.

Help define project plans and work effectively to deadlines.

Report faults to Chief Engineer and help identify resolutions.

Develop and manage control systems software and hardware archive.

Maintain open and clear lines of communication with entire heritage department.

Follow the internal business processes and procedures when designing, procuring or demanding components. Utilising systems such as D365.

Ensure the car, equipment, garage/event space and heritage workshop are maintained and presented to an elite standard. Williams Heritage operates a showcase facility visited by potential clients, sponsors and VIP’s.

To form and maintain strong working relationships with across all Williams Racing departments. Inclusive but not limited to circumstances where Williams require resource from Event Support, Race Team and Third-Party Suppliers.

Represent and positively promote the Williams Racing brand and be knowledgeable and respectful of its Heritage.
We are looking for a Lead Control Systems Engineer who has the following skills:

Experience of electronic systems in a motorsport environment.

Experience using MATLAB and Simulink to generate code in an embedded application.

Experience using McLaren Applied ATLAS and System monitor tools.

Experience working with electronically controlled hydraulic systems.

An understanding of engine and gearbox control strategies
-
Knowledge of CAN communication protocols and standard automotive sensors.

An understanding of IT infrastructure and IT configuration.
-
Knowledge of C and C# programming languages would be an advantage
-
Knowledge of DSPACE HIL simulators would be an advantage.
